Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Ratings & Reviews
- maximusMay 20, 2025definitely worth a watch all the way through, however, many episodes are slow and uninteresting, and bear no relevance to any core-plot. independent isolated plots don't do particularly well in this series (imho) without any connection to the larger story or one of the main character journeys. it's really strange to me how this series contains both of the worst and best writing throughout all of the ST franchise. no other ST series quite touches on spirituality and mysticism in the way this one does (TNG doesn't even compare in this regard). i find Sisko's journey to be among the most rewarding stories ever written into the franchise, on par with Data's journey in TNG to become more human, and Worf's journey in both series to understand his identity and place among his people (side note: TNG fans should definitely watch simply for Worf's continued journey. his development in this series is top notch). this series also contains the most frequent and significant interactions with the Terran mirror universe out of all the franchise (TNG had a whopping zero mirror universe interactions). i was surprised to find that the best space battles in the whole franchise are featured in this series (mostly toward the end). overall, the core-plot was not touched on enough until later seasons, making the first few quite dull. this could have been the best ST series if they moved it along faster as it would have given them more room to go even deeper. by the end of the series i found myself content with its conclusion yet yearning for more. sub note: i hate how they "updated" the main intro/outro theme later in the series. the original sounds like real musicians performing with emotion - lots of fermatas bending the sense of time signature - whereas the updated version sounds very rigid, fake, and emotionless, like someone just got their first midi editor and made a fan-version of the theme
- SlayerSantiagoMarch 13, 2025For the love of all things holy and good - remaster this series (and Voyager) + re-render the CGI! This is a legendary sci-fi show and it deserves to be preserved in the highest possible quality
- Brad.Plex.October 13, 2024While DS9 continues the Star Trek trend of a weak beginning, it follows its peers in becoming a truly great installment that Trekkies will return to throughout the ages.
