E1Take Him, He's YoursAlice says that Tommy has been difficult lately. When Tommy arrives at Mel's with a dirt bike that he traded his electric guitar for, Alice goes through the roof. Mel believes that he could do better handling Tommy. A fed up Alice agrees to let Tommy go live with Mel. Mel soon finds out that he has bitten off more than he can chew. - Citizen Mel
E3Citizen MelMel witnesses the robbery of Ackermann's Jewelry Store, but he doesn't want get involved. Alice & Vera pressure Mel to go to the police. Mel fingers Albert Bo Schneider as the culprit. Problem is that the cops let Schneider go for lack of evidence. Schneider has pistol whipped a witness before. Mel is spooked and paranoid. - Block Those Kicks
E5Block Those KicksWhen Mel's bookie drives away with his new car, the girls tell Mel that he has to quit gambling. To encourage him, Alice agrees to give up chocolate; Vera agrees to stop smoking, and Flo agrees to give up coffee. After everyone is caught back-sliding, Mel reveals he has wagered with the bookie that he can stop gambling. If Mel wins, he gets the car back. After Mel reminds her that she had not been able to join the police for lack of a diploma, Flo vows to go to night school. Flo gets Alice and Tommy to help her study. E9Who Ordered the Hot Turkey?Alice's plans for Thanksgiving are dashed when Mel decides to stay open for the holiday. Mel finds a guy who will sell him eight turkeys at $5 each. Mel finds out and threatens to fire her. When she is 4 hours late to work the next day, Mel does fire her. Vera and Flo's attempt to reconcile them just makes things worse. When Alice hears Tommy refer to Principal Jim Thornton as "Old Thorny", she's in for a surprise when she discovers that "Old Thorny" is not so old at all...and not so bad looking. Flo tells the DJ that she is all alone without a date. Suddenly Flo realizes she is on the air and hangs up in embarrassment. Flo will not be alone for much longer. - Sweet Charity
E14Sweet CharityThe Golden Circle Charity Ball at the Baltimore Hotel is coming up. Roy Clark, O. J. Simpson and Bette Davis will be there. Alice's latest flame Eric reveals that he has 4 tickets to the sold out event through the company he works for. Alice invites both Vera and Flo, but they each think that they can take dates. Things get worse when Mel wants to bully his way in for 2 tickets. The confusion and tension only gets worse from here. - The Fourth Time Around
E15The Fourth Time AroundMel's brother Al is in town fresh from his third divorce. Flo takes time off to spend time with Al. Several days later they show back up to announce that they are getting married. Alice talks Flo into getting married at Mel's. Mel and Alice have reservations. - Mel Grows Up
E17Mel Grows UpMel's mother, Carrie Sharples blows into town unexpectedly. She tells Mel she plans on staying at his house for the winter. Mel moves into Alice's house for the duration. Alice doesn't want to get involved but Mel begs her to try to get his mom out of his house. Alice succeeds but now Carrie moves in with Alice.
