After new owner Randolph Briggs fires all of the girls, Mel, unsuccessfully tries to buy the diner back. Vera has a job as a roller skating carhop at Duggie's Drive in, and Flo is working at Clem's Watering Trough. Randolph has hired one waiter to replace all the girls. Mel's customers start showing up at Alice's house for Mel's cooking. Alice decides its time to have "Sam Butler" make Randolph an offer he can't refuse.
