I will say that it’s definitely a very interesting concept which I am interested in watching more of.
- HerrSumsemannAugust 22, 2026Ghost in the Shell has fascinated me since I saw Wamdue Project’s “King of My Castle” video as a kid in 1999. I bought the VHS soon after – but it took me years to truly appreciate it. It’s possibly the greatest sci-fi film ever made. Its elliptical cybercrime story, politics, and philosophy demand real attention. Virtually every line matters. The “kill your darlings” approach leaves room for long, atmospheric sequences and timeless questions whose deliberately ambiguous answers stay with you long after the film ends. Still astonishingly animated, profoundly philosophical, and arguably more relevant today than ever. The manga and Science SARU’s new series make the story more accessible, but it’s Mamoru Oshii’s restraint that makes this film so powerful. Essential viewing, and absolutely worth revisiting.

- Andre BautzFebruary 19, 2025A very good mix of fantasy and sci-fi. It shows a dystopian, Cyberpunk future. It is visually stunning, fast-paced, but also has quiet moments to linger and enjoy. The story is difficult to follow very quickly in place, but I think that the fact that we are following a special unit also makes it realistic. The picture and sound are still very, very good after all this time.
