- Reviewed[REC] 3: Genesis4d agoLook, this is easily the worst of the four [REC] movies. It also gets a lot of venom. That said, it isn't a bad film. If this was a stand alone film, it would be a perfectly serviceable zombie flick. It's a novel setting, several of the characters are fun. There aren't any gaping holes and some fun plot points. It isn’t a classic, it doesn't break new ground, but it is watchable and enjoyable as a stand alone film.
- ReviewedHellraiserOctober 28, 2026As a Barker buff, I adore this film. At the time it was completely unique in style and tone. It isn't perfect. Barker's direction, and sometimes dialogue, show the efforts of a novice filmmaker, but for an 80s horror movie it was light-years beyond its contemporaries Robinson does a great job, and Bradley is iconic as Pinhead. Laurence's Kirstie was a bit grating, but not terrible. It is such a pity the the series started to devolve as badly as it did. Barker builds a fascinating mythology here and it would have been entertaining to see it evolve had he stayed at the helm.
- ReviewedWerewolves WithinOctober 25, 2026A very effective video game adaption. There is a lot of fun with a strong cast of comedic actors. However, it is much more of a paranoia thriller played as a comedy. Never laugh out loud funny or ever fully delving into thriller territory, it performs and effective tightrope walk. Richardson is solid in the lead, but Vayntrub's charm really shines. To be honest, it surprises me that she hasn't become more prominent.
- ReviewedReady or Not 2: Here I ComeOctober 25, 2026I like about 80% of this film. My gripe is Kathryn Newton. I've seen her play this same character in multiple movies and it is always the weakest part. She is a talented actress, but the petulant sister/daughter/teammate just eats away at her excellent earlier work good will. I was particularly entertained by Elijah Wood. His role is a challenging line to tow and he is excellent!
- ReviewedFreakyOctober 25, 2026A fun twist on Freaky Friday. Newton has a strong showing and Vaughn, well he is effective as the killer (really, it makes you consider if Psycho was really on him) and a hoot as Mimi. There is plenty to knock, from the plotting to some of the other performances, but it isn't going for an Oscar. It is a fun twist of a premise into the horror/comedy genre and it works.
- ReviewedEvent HorizonOctober 24, 2026While the final reel is a bit flat, this is an excellent film. An excellent cast led by Fishburne and Neil, with some very effective atmosphere. The visuals are a little dated and scream "90s", but are mostly strong in that context. Overall this is a classic of SciFi Horror. Between this and Pandorum, Anderson seems to have a knack for the genre.
- ReviewedTeenage Sex and Death at Camp MiasmaOctober 24, 2026Well that was interesting. It was certainly "good", but I'm not sure it was "enjoyable". It drifts occasionally, but both Anderson and Einbinder put on a show. There are certain (occasionally obvious) Videodrome and Naked Lunch vibes. Can certainly see why some folks would be turned off by it, but I think it warrants another watch through.
- ReviewedThe Evil DeadOctober 19, 2026An absolute classic and eminently rewatchable. That said, its lack of budget shows, and the performances are not strong. Comparing his work here to the second movie, Campbell obviously improves greatly and part of that is probably attributable to Raimi's growing experience. It is a wonderful movie, but those shortcomings do need to be taken into account.
- ReviewedNight of the Living DebOctober 14, 2026Enjoyable zombie comedy. Some good comedic actors here. I will say that Thayer, who I usually really like, is a little grating as a manic-pixie, but generally fine. Nothing special in terms of script or filmmaking, but solid and competent for a fairly low budget affair.
- ReviewedTom Papa: Human MuleOctober 14, 2026Tom Papa delivers a consistent quality performance and Human Mule is no exception. Papa's humor is largely inoffensive content about family dynamics. His various shows do frequently cover the same topics and can get a little repetitive, they are still worth while.
