- KentFebruary 23, 2025A dismal disappointment! Having read all the books in Robert Jordan's legendary series, I went into the TV adaptation of “Wheel of Time” with a mixture of hope and trepidation. Unfortunately, my worst fears were realized, and what I got was a travesty that should’ve never left the drawing board. It's not just that the adaptation strays from the original prose; it’s that it mows down the very essence of what made the story great. It’s much more about the departure from the original books that makes this so disinteresting and bland. Many, many fans of the book series hate this interpretation for good, obvious reasons. The screenwriter seems more interested in pushing a political agenda than in honoring the source material. The bizarre prioritization of female characters over the narrative established in the books belittles the crucial role of the male lead, who is, last I checked, central to the story being told. This isn’t a false claim; it’s a deliberate erasure of his significance in favor of a more "inclusive" narrative that ends up feeling shallow and forced. It’s as if the term "Woke of Time" was coined specifically to describe this adaptation. The once rich, intricate world is reduced to a hollow echo of its former self, with dialogue that feels less like dialogue and more like propaganda. The characters, stripped of their depth, become mere vehicles for the agenda being pushed, and it’s frankly embarrassing to watch. The DEI hire list is MASSIVE. So, may characters of Caucasian origin are replaced by people of color and are nothing like the characters described in the book proving more that this story pushes politics down the throats of it watchers turning them into victims for having chosen to watch this mess. When political agendas are pushed over and above the story, then you have a problem that dies the logic of being entertaining and becomes offensive. In short, the "Wheel of Time" series deserves better than this politically-motivated mockery. It’s a shameful reinterpretation that has reduced a beloved classic to a muddled presentation of forced ideology. Spare yourself the disappointment and stick with the books—where the magic of the story remains intact. They say if you don’t like the content don’t watch it. I took their advice and I’m better off doing so. I quit watching it.
