- KentMarch 23, 2025I recently had the pleasure of watching the TV show "Foundation," and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! Going into it, I knew very little about the series, having not read any of the books by Isaac Asimov that it’s based on. However, I am a big fan of Lee Pace, and he was the catalyst that drew me in. From the very first episode, I was captivated by the show’s intriguing premise, which brilliantly weaves together themes of science, politics, and time. The incorporation of mathematics as a fundamental element of the storyline is fascinating—it adds an intellectual depth that I truly appreciate. It's refreshing to see a show that doesn't shy away from complex concepts and uses them to drive the narrative forward. The special effects in "Foundation" are absolutely stunning! The visual representation of distant galaxies, advanced technologies, and the grandeur of the Empire create an immersive experience that captures the imagination. It feels like each scene is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, making it a feast for the eyes. Lee Pace delivers an outstanding performance, bringing a commanding presence to his role that keeps you glued to the screen. His character is compelling and layered, and he adds a unique charm that elevates the show even further. Overall, "Foundation" is a brilliant blend of storytelling, intellectual depth, and visual artistry. I’m thrilled that I decided to watch it, and I can’t wait to see where the journey takes us next. Whether you're a long-time fan of Asimov's work or like me, new to this universe, I highly recommend giving it a watch!
- DriftByte16h agoHuge opportunity, damaged by ideology. While some of the below may be fine other changes completely changed the direction and feel of the characters and story. For example, in the Apple TV+ Foundation series, several key characters were both race- and gender-swapped from Isaac Asimov’s original books: • Gaal Dornick – White male in books → Black female in show • Salvor Hardin – White male in books → Black female in show • Eto Demerzel – White male android (R. Daneel Olivaw) in books → White female-presenting android in show • Commissioner Chen – White male in books → Asian or mixed-race female in show • Poly Verisof – White male in books → Black male in show • Bel Riose – White male in books → Asian male in show • Brother Dawn/Day/Dusk (Clones of Cleon I) – White males in books → Ethnically diverse male clones in show • Rue – New character (not in books) → Black female advisor added to the Emperor’s court
- JokMontoya5d agoIt's not an adaptation; it's as if you took the book, copied the names of the main characters into your own hand, tore out the pages, and put a turd inside.
- sickgrinderMay 13, 2025A great adaptation of the series of short stories then books that started in the 1940’s. Personally this has to be one of my top shows period.
- Thomas ChludzinskiMarch 4, 2025Lee Pace is one scary dude. Grand scale sci fi with some some slight pacing issues but some of the best villain writing on tv
