Prince Laharl is awakened after 2 years of sleep by an Angel, Flonne, who was ordered to assassinate him but fails. Both discover Laharl's father passed away. They're later joined by Etna, Laharl's Vassal. The three heroes travel through the Netherworld to help Laharl to succeed his father by becoming the new Overlord.
