監督:Yoshiaki Kawajiri菊池秀行の同名小説 闇ガードシリーズ第一作の劇場公開作品。 人間界と魔界、両世界は紛争を避ける為平和条約を締結し永きに渡り不干渉の約束の下平和を享受してきた。その平和を守るため人知れずお互いの世界を守る「闇ガード」が居た。平和条約の期限切れが迫る中、新たなる条約調印の為来日するジュゼッペ・マイヤートの護衛を命ぜられた人間側闇ガード滝蓮三郎と魔界側闇ガード 麻紀絵に調印阻止を図る魔界側テロリストが次々と襲い掛かる。

- Richard2025年8月3日I first saw Wicked City on an import VHS, and it felt like I’d stumbled onto something forbidden. Set in a noir soaked Tokyo, the film dives into the uneasy truce between the human world and the a parallel dimension full of grotesque, supernatural beings. It’s a wild blend of cyberpunk, supernatural thriller and noir, with mature themes that hit harder than most anime of its time. The creatures are imaginative and unsettling. It’s not for the faint of heart, there’s graphic content and some disturbing imagery that definitely pushed boundaries. Wicked City is raw, stylish and unapologetically adult. That import VHS felt like a secret portal into the darker corners of anime and I’ve never forgotten it.

There is some really excellent animation and storytelling here, problem is it's bookended by uhh... hentai, on both ends, and in far greater quantity. The characters may have actually gotten more done if they had stopped banging for so much of the runtime.
