Where to Watch The Patriot
- CubaneJuly 6, 2026Mel Gibson plays Mel Gibson, and Jason Isaacs plays the only kind of villain in Mel Gibson movies: The cartoonishly evil kind. Gibson has never opened a textbook and can't read, so expect some smudging to get the narrative to fit the history. But the cinematography and narrative do their jobs nicely. Once again seeing Roland Emmerich as director I was dissapointed that he did not sneak some aliens in there to help win the Revolutionary War, but I guess we have Mel Gibson who is the next best thing.
- ርልዪረFebruary 12, 2025Life every Mel Gibson film, it's a fabulous, intense, heavy, drama that's highly worthy of praise. It's brutal, and will most probably will keep you at the edge of your seat, like it did with me! The Patriot is about a man, who's intention is to seek vengeance against a brutal Loyalist, who killed his son. I would highly recommend it, but best left to teens 15 or 16, because it's pretty graphic and grizzly, such as an ax in the head, a sword in a throat, and a blown-off head, but are not too much to handle. But if you are at a suitable age, then you really should watch it!!!
- herrandoJune 1, 2026Viewing in 2026, After all these years I was expecting it to have aged, but it's held up pretty well. It's a good movie showing Mel Gibson at his best. It's basically Braveheart but set during the American war of independence. Expect violence and lots of flag waving.. I'm sure it means more to Americans than us Brits.. Jason Issacs plays the classic evil British guy with great effect. Even I ended up hating him by the end of the movie. Very much still worth a watch.
- Patrick D.June 29, 2025Man, this movie pisses me off because it's such a good movie, but the writers really butchered some of the historical accuracy. I love colonial American history and to my surprise they are very accurate about a lot of aspects in this film, but they just ignore other aspects completely. Just to name a few, they completely sanitize the slavery subject and make the British unrealistically and cartoonishly evil. I get why they did it. 'Merica and whatnot. It's a Hollywood movie after all. One other nitpick would be the choreography was weak at times and the slow mo sure didn't do it any favors.
- KylachamMay 15, 2025A truly epic feat in storytelling. Mel delivers an intense performance that is nicely balanced with his humorous side, and Heath is as lovable as ever. Wilkinson and Isaacs are perfect in their roles as the two very contrasting antagonists, particularly Isaacs who excels in a love-to-hate-them role. Yes, liberties are taken with historical facts, but I can't bring myself to give a damn.
