Dunkirk Ratings & Reviews
- Mister ArnMay 23, 2025There was a lot of story, but I didn't have an emotional connection with any of the characters. It felt like a documentary with a loud musical score and no narration.
- TanalienJanuary 9, 2025It's hard to describe the experience of watching this film. It's harrowing, tense, and shell-shocking. Christopher Nolan has put the audience on the beaches of Dunkirk, on the fishing boats, and into the spitfires during the greatest evacuation of World War II. Only the most talented directors can sustain tension. An audience cannot be stressed for two hours unless the story being told is engrossing. It must capture the audience. Dunkirk needs almost no exposition - it is told by a single piece of paper. From there, the film explodes. Then, the tension and suspense begin and do not leave you until the film ends.
- 匚卂尺ㄥFebruary 11, 2025Christopher nolan's War epic drama "Dunkirk " is another masterpiece by him more like another feather in his cap . Audiences have seen many war drama some of them are considered greatest one like " Saving private ryan" " Full metal jacket" " Platoon" " Thin red line" " Fury" . Unlike them Nolan's war masterpiece takes you to totally into world war traumatic history . One can feel agony ,pain , trauma , grief war brought with soldiers returned to their home . Mind blowing VFX , Cinematography , editing , Original score by Hans zimmer will stick you to your seats during whole movie . Specially Zimmer's score is so powerful that theatre starts shaking you can feel powerful music vibes around yourself captivating immersing you into war trauma . Special mention about Nolan's direction is he always go for perfection nothing less than it , we have seen it in , interstellar , inception , dark knight , dark knight rises . His grip on direction, script , screenplay never loses that's identification of a great filmmaker . Performance wise cast did excellent work outstanding actors like Mark raylance , celian Murphy , tom Hardy have made their strong impact by performances . This movie is must watch as it's a great portrayal of war trauma our soldiers have faced , it makes them more respectable for the kind of sacrifice they made for their country . A great war drama with unforgettable visuals & great filmmaking .
- burtjohansonFebruary 5, 2025I place this at #2 on Nolan’s list of films (controversial I know). A lesser known and revisited story from WW2 that is shot beautifully and crafted uniquely - the first watch through is a joy. I find myself coming back for the dogfights and ending monologue frequently.
- .LAGMay 21, 2025War is hell, but hope will light the way out. A technical tour-de-force from Christopher Nolan about the real-life rescue of hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers abandoned and stranded on the beaches of Dunkirk, France early in WWII. Depressing topic, shot beautifully, winding together four or five storylines masterfully.
- ncumpstonMay 1, 2025Tells a very important story, it has moments of dragging on and losing focus on what it is trying to say to the viewer. It doesn’t give me the ability to invested in the character’s.
- Wes CandelaMarch 22, 2025Christopher Nolan doesn’t think like we do. We being the masses This is a hyper, intelligent human being that was made, born, to be a filmmaker Any fan of his nose that he thinks outside the box, but with every film he makes he breaks down a wall of that box Specifically, the gorgeous cinematography and use of IMAX This film is a personal one, you can feel it After an opening sequence that not only sucks you in but knocks you unconscious with how grandiose it is how beautiful the sound is how precise the direction is and flawless and jaw dropping the cinematography is You are on the beach with one of the 400,000 English troops surrounded by the Nazi’s at Dunkirk. The storyline for this plot vantage point will be over the course of a week You are then brought to a boat, a civilian volunteer boat by the Eng that have volunteered to go to Dunkirk in their civilian boats and rescue as many troops as they can We are then told that that story will take place over the course of 24 hours Then we are thrown into a cockpit with Tom Hardy, God I love everything you do, He is one of three of the British Air Force cavalry We are told that his footage will represent one hour It took me a few times of reading that to fully understand but when you watch the movie and then watch it again, it’s a brilliant storytelling device Moving on this information may help you, which is why I’m telling you because without knowing that it does get confusing It’s a spectacle everybody gives their most and it’s all real I waited six years to watch this movie, the circumstances had to be correct I fired it up on my television, hooked up the 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos set up (the film is in DTS-HD MA 5.1 & HDR10) And I was rocked from beginning to end I’m glad I waited It’s a triumph Try to watch it when you can boost the volume
- Movie_NerdFebruary 16, 2025Wow, nice Christoffer Nolan, the soundtrack is just wow
- RyezooFebruary 15, 2025I have fallen absolutely in love with this movie. The intensity can be felt every time. The screeching of the German planes get me every time. The terrifying sound will never sound that good at home. Got to get the most of it while it's in theaters! I spotted new things this go with the 3 timelines that really brought this movie completely together now. I also think that with more viewings the characters all begin to stand out much more. The suttle things they do is what makes up who they are. Love this movie.
- Enamul Hassan TipoFebruary 8, 2025Beautiful and frightful movie on wars.
- Eric BakkeOctober 13, 2024Dunkirk stands out for its innovative storytelling, as it immerses viewers in a tense World War II scenario without traditional character development. Despite this, you remain deeply invested in the outcome, creating a powerful and unforgettable cinematic experience.
