Death Note Ratings & Reviews
- MrReclusiveNovember 14, 2025This was my introduction to death note, which in turn was my introduction to anime then manga. So even going into this knowing nothing about it, this was fantastic. Compelling story, compelling characters, and compelling psychology. This is well worth a watch even if you have no interest in the source material. But trust me, after you watch it, you will have intrest. Then you get to experience a chip eating action scene in the anime for the first time.
- Daniel GustavssonOctober 12, 2024I personally love this movie. It's very well made.
- HakihikoSeptember 24, 2025A Solid Adaptation "Death Note" (2006) delivers a gripping live-action take on the legendary manga, and for the most part, it succeeds in bringing its dark and fascinating world to life. The atmosphere is tense and immersive, pulling viewers into the cat-and-mouse game that defines the story. The film stays faithful to the source material's core ideas, making it exciting to watch for fans who wanted to see this iconic story on the big screen. The casting works well, with performances that capture the essence of the characters, and the pacing-though condensed-still manages to keep the narrative engaging from start to finish. The film also succeeds in giving the audience the unsettling tone and moral ambiguity that made "Death Note" so memorable. While some of the deeper psychological layers are naturally reduced compared to the manga and anime, "Death Note" (2006) remains a strong, enjoyable adaptation.
