- trrsAugust 17, 2026BMF isn’t a bad show, but once you realize how much of it is dramatized, it loses some of the appeal of watching a “true story.” The basic foundation is real Meech, Terry, their rise in Detroit, BMF becoming a massive organization, and many of the major events but a lot of what happens scene to scene is either heavily changed, combined, or just made up for TV.My biggest issue, though, was the acting. It can get super cheesy, especially during the emotional scenes. Whenever somebody dies and everyone has to suddenly turn on the grief, some of the performances took me completely out of it. There are definitely some solid actors here, but other scenes feel more like people trying to act hard or emotional rather than actually selling it.That being said, it’s still entertaining. It’s not a bad hood/crime show by any means, but there are much better hood stories out there with stronger writing, more believable characters, and acting that hits a lot harder. BMF is entertaining for what it is I just wouldn’t put it anywhere near the top of the genre.
