Battle Angel Alita Ratings & Reviews
- Tony Brown25 mars 2025Boss more please
- ADONIS009−4 dUpdate after watching both: the 1993 anime makes more sense now since it’s basically a short promo, so it feels incomplete but still solid. The 2019 movie did a great job overall and felt way more fleshed out and engaging, my only issue is that it clearly needs a sequel to finish the story.❤️🦾🤖
- cyberpu715 november 2025Short and brutal, crispy hand drawn animation that inspired James Cameron to film a live action adaptation. Both works are the first few acts of the manga; a work well worth your time to read and enjoy.
- Richard18 oktober 2025Short, brutal and heartbreakingly beautiful, Battle Angel (aka Gunnm) is a cyberpunk gem that punches far above its runtime. In just two OVA episodes, it delivers a world of scrapyard survival, body augmentation and existential yearning. Gally (Alita) isn’t just a cyborg, she’s a soul in search of purpose and her journey hits hard. The animation is crisp, the action visceral and the emotional beats land with surprising weight. Doc Ido’s paternal warmth, Yugo’s tragic ambition and Gally’s fierce vulnerability create a triangle of tension that feels more human than most full length features. The soundtrack hums with melancholy and the art direction captures the grime and glow of dystopia with style. It’s not a full adaptation, it’s a glimpse. But what a glimpse. If you’ve read the manga or seen the live-action version, this OVA is the raw, emotional core. No filler, no fluff, just pure cyberpunk soul.
