Ning Li is a Chinese actor, born in Beijing to a family of engineer (father) and doctors (mother and sister). He graduated from the Performance Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy.
Ning officially entered showbiz in 1990 with his participation in the film "The Wedding Maidens". At the peak of his acting career in 1996, he chose to further his studies in the United States. After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a major in film production, he made short films with his classmates from time to time, and was also actively performing on stage with the troupe in USA and UK.
Ning got married in the United States and has two daughters. In 2005, Ning decided to return to China for development.
