I think this is Bruce Lee’s finest work. Entertaining fights, a plot just present enough to keep things moving, and Rome makes for an interesting backdrop. It also has a pretty solid sense of humor, fantastic soundtrack… really just terrific all around.

Return of the Dragon follows a straightforward concept that has been used in many films: people need help with a shop they own, they’re being bullied by competitors or forced to pay, money is tight, and then help arrives. Despite its small budget and some cheesy acting from a few cast members, others truly carried the film and helped elevate it into the masterpiece it is today. Rest in peace to Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee. Considering this was filmed almost 60 years ago, everything was executed incredibly well. You can’t fairly compare older films to modern ones. Instead, you have to understand the time period and the limitations they faced to truly appreciate the effort and dedication behind it. What may seem like a simple movie to us likely took days and months of hard work to bring to life. Their effort was not in vain, and Bruce Lee’s martial arts technique was at the peak of his craft, something we may never fully replicate or master.
