While I can appreciate its iconic cinematography, striking costume design, and sweeping desert visuals, the story took too long to find its footing. The pacing dragged, and the characters felt pretty one-dimensional—none of them really lived up to the “good” part of the title. For a film built around gunfights, the action was surprisingly sparse, and when it did happen, it often ended after just a couple of shots. The tension and payoff that Westerns usually deliver just didn’t land for me here. I love Westerns, but this one will probably stay a one-and-done viewing.
- flavo43January 3, 2026The Good, the Bad and the Ugly stands as one of the greatest westerns ever made, a monumental finale to the “Man with No Name” trilogy. Sergio Leone crafts an operatic tale of greed, survival, and shifting alliances, culminating in one of cinema’s most iconic three‑way showdowns. Every element of the film excels: the sweeping cinematography, the sharp character work, the perfectly paced narrative, and of course Ennio Morricone’s legendary score, which elevates every moment with haunting brilliance. Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach deliver unforgettable performances, embodying three outlaws whose personalities clash as fiercely as their guns. Each actor carves out a character so distinctive that they’ve become permanently etched into western mythology. Epic, stylish, and endlessly rewatchable, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly remains a towering achievement—one that continues to define what a western can be.
- tonylisJanuary 6, 2025I remember seeing A Fistful Of Dollars in 1964 followed by For A Few Dollars More. I thought how great that Lee Van Cliff is one of the Good Guys for a change. But then along came The Good The Bad And The Ugly, Eastwood returns and Van Cliff is the Bad Guy again but looking 10 years younger. I was 16 when I saw T,G,TB,A T,G, But we knew who Lee Van Cliff was ,being big fans of Westerns from an early age. TV was only catching on in Ireland then. We were still in 1 Channel land. So Cinema was still King. The impact that film made on us was incredible. All these years later it hasn't lost it's Power. Lee Van Cliff went on to play the Good Guy a lot after that, Clint became a Star or what they called a Super Star in the 70s. And I kept watching both Actors careers. But of course Eli Wallach as Tuco ,he kinda stole the Film but not the fame. If by chance you have not Seen this Film by now or heard the Stunning Score by what's his name or never seen a film directed By Seigio Leone. Well then you haven't read this either but if you have You know what I mean.....
