Where to Watch Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker
- Carter5d agoStar Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker does not hold up as a great movie on rewatch but I still do enjoy the film. Positives: - The movie is well made, well directed, well shot, well edited, and well paced - The movie visually looks gorgeous because of the great cinematography, CGI, and Green Screen - The score is obviously fantastic - The performances are great - Most of the characters are handled well - The action sequences are amazing and executed well - The third act is epic and amazing with extremely high stakes - The movie does a perfect job at ending the Skywalker Saga - The movie contains some awesome Star Wars sequences Negatives: - The dialogue is extremely cringy and not well written - The movie try’s to shoehorn in comedy throughout the first two acts of the film and it doesn’t work at all - Some of the side characters don’t do much - J.J. Abrams tried his hardest to recover from the damage Last Jedi did to the franchise Overall Star Wars: Episode 9 - The Rise of Skywalker is a good and satisfying conclusion to the Star Wars franchise but still a very flawed movie.
- joshuacottle30May 9, 2026Watching this movie, I can see the panic that the studio had trying to rap up the franchise. With the tragedy that was the last Jedi, it really feels that JJ was trying to forget about all that and move on. The movie moves a little too fast but the references to the OG trilogy were cool. Also really liked the villain designs.
- PapaHamzehApril 2, 2025This movie was ass. Still is. Will always be. The most insulting display of corporate disregard for the people who consume their products. The same story? Round three of the same shit we have been watching. 'Somehow, he returned'. What didn't return was any chance of good writing. Rey? Well, you see in the previous movie we set up a really cool motif that 'just anyone can become a hero, you aren't special' and then we decided to just scrap that because we are imbeciles. What a disgrace. 2.5 hours of the prettiest garbage you'll ever see. And it IS pretty. Finn had something to tell us, and it was that his character was going in to the trash, along with any sense of story-telling. Kylo Ren's dead body will also be there. Sci-fi hand waving ONCE AGAIN managing to be so out of place that it makes the audience, who mind you ARE THERE TO SEE SPACE WIZARDS, go 'did they seriously think this would be a good idea'. JJ Abrams is officially cemented as a hack. The Mouse got his money, but we all suffered for it.
- turbob24April 26, 2026What a bizarre, beautiful yet catastrophic cocktail of a Star Wars film. It seems as the Last Jedi was so opinion splitting (I liked it), they tried to... apologise? By hasty retcons of previous events, a clumsily inserted Palpatine return (you can sort of make it make sense in your head) and about six movies worth of just sheer Star Wars thrown at your face. It's so hard to review.... It looks amazing, the ridiculous amount of fanservice sometimes entertains, there are great sequences.... But you can't help but think it hurtles on at such a pace you don't have time to overthink it. Overstuffed, mostly exciting, frustrating (I don't think anyone can justify the Sith dagger nonsense) and amazing to look at. A satisfying feeling conclusion, which unfortunately gets ruined by a complete bollocks in the final seconds... It's like a gourmet sandwich, with a handful of small poos blindly scattered through it..... Wouldn't wanna eat it would you... PS Adam Driver has a wonky face, but he carries this and the 2 previous films...

There is a plot line established right away that no one on Earth wanted, is introduced in the laziest way possible, and just sends the whole movie spiraling down the toilet. There are more plot holes than there are reasonable resolutions, to the point that it’s hard for me to think of a way to disrespect the franchise more.

Rian screwed up Star Wars so badly with Episode VIII that this one is clearly trying to patch everything together — and bringing back Sidious feels desperate. Big mistake. Having Abrams back was smart; he injects some energy and keeps the spectacle alive. But not bringing king Kasdan in to help with the script? That’s a gigantic error. He knows how to make Star Wars feel right and might actually have repaired a lot of the damage Rian left behind. Some visuals are stunning, and there are fun moments sprinkled in, but the story feels rushed, forced, and messy. It’s entertaining in bits, but as a conclusion to the saga, it just doesn’t land.
- blazer666_ukMay 26, 2025Absolute pile of horse manure.. wow.. Disney you have got a long way to recover from this mess of a film. You can see how the writer and director have no clue what Star Wars is about.. and if Lucas approved this.. then he clearly has lost the plot (Much Like this movie) It is so bad.. it makes the Prequel trilogy look epic, Including Jar Jar... And to be fair even the Star Wars Holiday Special is a master piece compared to the Rise Of Skywalker. Even worse are the people that say this movie is good! what the hell.. the whole film unravels into a mess from the first few minutes.. It doesn't make any sense and just makes fools of the characters. I didn't even bother to see the movie on the big screen (the first time ever I have not watched a SW movie in a cinema. There is a total disregard for any previous Star Wars Lore, the story just does not make sense. From Space Horses (I kid you not) to Rose being dropped. Its as if the writers were writing the script live.. Anyone who says the Rise of Skywalker is a good movie deserves to be ridiculed for the rest of their lives!.. This movie is an embarrassment and doesn't even deserve half a star rating
- Kevin WardJuly 7, 2025For whatever reason, in the past couple weeks I’ve rewatched several movies that I hated after watching them the first time in theaters. (Jurassic Park 3, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, and now Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker). And for each one I found myself enjoying the movie quite a bit more than my first watch. That is the case here as well. This movie is a decent watch for what it is. The action set pieces are fun and the performances are all pretty good. I still hate the main plot (which is why this is still only a 2.5 star review, but the journey getting there isn’t so bad. I still don’t like how the story beats try to manipulate your emotions with fake dramatic twists—apparent twists that occur but are quickly resolved or reversed minutes later. Chewbacca is killed, j/k he was on a different ship; Kylo’s dead, j/k Rey saved him, Rey’s dead, j/k Kylo saved her; Threepio’s memory is wiped, j/k R2 restored it. Over and over the movie attempts to fake emotional stakes. On first watch, I found it really annoying. It’s possible that they didn’t bother me as much this time now that I know to expect them. Yeah, I still don’t like this movie very much. But, it’s still watchable.
