Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi Ratings & Reviews
- PapaHamzehApril 2, 2025Only one other person in all of my life has mentioned why this is the best Star Wars movie: Brandon Sanderson. While a not a total fan of his work (though I do enjoy the Stormlight Archives), his thought's mirrored my own on why, since I saw it as a child in the 90s, this movie was able to outshine the others, despite the Ewoks and the ghosts of the dead. This movie finished the tale. The hero's journey ended here, and ended in way that culminated the themes of what the Dark side and the Light side will always clash over; ended in way that described what Luke had gone through, and what Vader always needed. The final battle scene between Luke and Vader is one of the most emotional scenes in the entire franchise, if not the most. We see what could push a hero to failure. We see also what distinguishes the hero from just any other character, and this is illustrated in both Luke and Vader. We see what love will do to even the best among us. This, to me, is the best writing George has ever done, and it seems that it will go unnoticed by most.
- David SweitzerFebruary 27, 2025Best ending to the greatest trilogy ever. Timeless masterpiece.
- Hipster ZOMBIEFebruary 26, 2025Here’s the problem with ROTJ. It was a giant commercial for toys. Ewok toys. New playsets. Cuteness had found its way into Star Wars and it took over. To the over all detriment of the movie. Han Solo became a cowardly idiot, a group of teddy bears took down one of the most well organized and trained troops in the galaxy, Chewie swings from a tree and does the Tarzan yell, and oh yeah, Boba Fett “death” was treated as a punchline for a burp joke. Just stupid. Luke Skywalker came out of this though as a total badass and is one of the most redeemable characters of this film. It just felt too kiddie especially coming off the dark and gritty Empire Strikes Back. An acceptable Star Wars film just not a very good one.

- Eric BakkeOctober 9, 2024Perfectly captures a sense of wonder, excitement, and adventure. Deliverers a satisfying and emotional conclusion to the characters' arcs, while emphasizing themes of hope, friendship, and the possibility of redemption.
