Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) battles horrible Jabba the Hut and cruel Darth Vader to save his comrades in the Rebel Alliance and triumph over the Galactic Empire. Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) reaffirm their love and team with Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), the Ewoks and the androids C-3PO and R2-D2 to aid in the disruption of the Dark Side and the defeat of the evil emperor.

Only one other person in all of my life has mentioned why this is the best Star Wars movie: Brandon Sanderson. While a not a total fan of his work (though I do enjoy the Stormlight Archives), his thought's mirrored my own on why, since I saw it as a child in the 90s, this movie was able to outshine the others, despite the Ewoks and the ghosts of the dead. This movie finished the tale. The hero's journey ended here, and ended in way that culminated the themes of what the Dark side and the Light side will always clash over; ended in way that described what Luke had gone through, and what Vader always needed. The final battle scene between Luke and Vader is one of the most emotional scenes in the entire franchise, if not the most. We see what could push a hero to failure. We see also what distinguishes the hero from just any other character, and this is illustrated in both Luke and Vader. We see what love will do to even the best among us. This, to me, is the best writing George has ever done, and it seems that it will go unnoticed by most.
