Ready Player One Ratings & Reviews
- JozzJanuary 30, 2025Don’t listen to people saying “book is better” Book is great, and movie is great too.
- Asanda NgceboMarch 8, 2025Please may I watch firstly than I can rate it
- gilligan5000August 3, 2025Probably my all time favorite movie with or without the kids. Fun, family friendly, imaginative, and action packed. Great messages of friendship and morality while realistically futuristic without even knowing it.
- Phoenix4d agoMostly franchise reference slop, that manages to get a lot of elements of human nature and VR wrong, even tho the movie was made *after* metaverses like this started to exist. They could have referenced the actual real thing to understand it better, but stuck with hokey story telling instead. Disturbing to see the source material for Zuckerberg's villainous plot. Hopefully nobody else tries to use this dystopia as a todo list. When it wasn't throwing endless funkopop-like franchise references in my face, the worldbuilding was pretty cool.
- tellumDecember 2, 2025Great movie if you just want a nostalgia bomb, for me personally simply seeing a bunch of different IPs on screen with no significance or consequence didn’t do it for me. The long stretches of investigating the lore of the geek that created the VR world also felt shallow and I didn’t understand why I should be emotionally invested in learning about a person responsible for escapist dystopia.
- flavo43November 25, 2025Ready Player One is stuffed with so much pop-culture nostalgia it’s almost suffocating—but just almost, because I genuinely enjoyed every minute of it. The film is a visual feast, overflowing with references, characters, logos, music cues, and Easter eggs from decades of gaming, movies, and television. There’s so much imagery crammed into the screen that it practically demands multiple viewings—preferably on a massive screen. Thankfully, I’ve got a projector, and even then I kept spotting new details. The dialogue can get a bit “rich” at times, almost like listening to Sandra Bullock’s enthusiastic retro-scatter in Demolition Man (which, to be fair, I also enjoyed). But the earnestness fits the tone: this is a movie about fandom, passion, and the worlds we escape into. Overall, Ready Player One is a fantastic and incredibly fun adventure. I spent hours afterward trying to unpack everything for my 10-year-old—and we still didn’t cover it all.
- Csv filetNovember 21, 2025Always a classic. Great movie
- fybreOctober 29, 2025One of my all time favourite movies. Not really faithfull to the book, but it's a great movie.
- Blake SingletonOctober 25, 2025Fun movie with no stakes and no stress.
- dstigueJune 10, 2025One of my favorite movies. Can watch it on repeat.
- mickerdooJuly 12, 2025Every time I watch it, I want to just restart it again. Great story, conflict and characters. Plus all of the nostalgia. Masterpiece.
- Jonas Hasle-JensenOctober 20, 2025It's a okay stand alone movie, but it has nothing to do with the books! They should have make 3 movies, one for each key and gate
- RichardOctober 12, 2025This movie plays like a love letter to every arcade cabinet, VHS tape and Saturday morning cartoon you ever cherished. Spielberg doesn’t just adapt Ernest Cline’s novel, he dives headfirst into the pop culture pool and splashes around with giddy abandon. It’s loud, messy and sometimes overwhelming, but it’s also a celebration of the worlds we escaped into as kids. It is a story about how the things we love shape who we are. It’s about friendship, identity, and the bittersweet ache of growing up in a world that feels less magical than the one we imagined. It’s not perfect, the villain’s a bit flat and some moments feel like a pop culture checklist, but when it hits, it hits hard. If you’ve ever felt seen by a pixelated avatar or found comfort in a fictional world, Ready Player One is your cinematic mixtape.
- gibbensSeptember 7, 2025I love this book. I have read this book 3 times and while I haven’t read the second book… I am looking forward to it. This movie isn’t bad, it’s kind a like Jurassic Park was: Steven Spielberg takes his own span of the movie and kind of removes parts that I think should’ve stayed in… Anyway, it’s a pretty decent film. However, if you haven’t read the book do that even if you see this… Read that book. If you’re between the ages of 40 and 65 that book is gonna just make you feel like you’re 10 years old again
- darsanJune 21, 2025an enjoyable film abt video games and virtual reality and i enjoyed it alot the second time.
