- Zokkiievor 6 TagenThis one really nails the tension and thrills. Naru is smart, resourceful, and endlessly entertaining to watch, and the rookie Yautja makes the stakes feel real without being over the top. The action is tight, the scenery is stunning, and the predator design is both intimidating and believable. Some of the supporting cast could use more development, and a few moments lag, but overall it’s a sharp, clever, and surprisingly fresh take that keeps you invested the whole way through.

After seeing this film I only want to see Predators hunting throughout various eras in human history. Amber Midthunder who plays Naru is absolutely amazing as the film’s lead. Great action, gruesome kills, THIS is the Predator film we have been waiting for!

Amber Midthunder is great here, the action is solid, and the Predator is a proper threat. What Dan Trachtenberg is doing with the Predator franchise is so much more enjoyable to me than any of the prior films and I look forward to more.

- theLillyPad21. Januar 2026A great premise executed excellently, Prey is worth your time and the best Predator movie since the original. Beating the Predator has never been about raw strength, its been about ingenuity, grit, and the indomitable nature of the human spirit. Our protagonist has these in spades. The film also allows itself to indulge in the "Rule of Cool" often (Predator vs a Bear, etc.) Naru is portrayed excellently by Amber Midthunder, who is allowed to learn, grow, fail, and adapt. The film is careful to set up opportunities for her to observe what she needs to in order to beat a Predator, which makes the pay off believable and satisfying. (It's ironic that it is so careful in this respect, yet expects us to swallow her regular ability to beat men twice her size with more experience with no real explanation. But this is a largely small issue in the grand scheme of the movie). Prey works because it gets what the franchise is about and is able to play with it creatively.

It’s strong intellectual property, and the original worked because of how simply it used tension, restraint, and pacing to create fear. This film does none of that. Very little lingers even a week after watching it. There are no scenes that resonate, no images that stick. Vague attempts at drama through shaky handheld camerawork and slow motion never amount to anything memorable. The prey-versus-predator, invader-versus-native motif is obvious and could have been compelling, especially if developed with the clarity and commitment of something like Apocalypto. Instead, it remains surface-level and underdeveloped. What becomes increasingly clear as these films continue is that the predators themselves become less frightening. No matter how advanced they’re made to be, the repeated outcome dulls any threat. At a certain point, the question stops being how will anyone survive this and becomes why should we fear them at all if they keep losing the same way every time. The choice to have the Indigenous characters speak English works against the film, making them feel oddly modern. Historical accuracy may not be essential here, but the contrast becomes especially distracting when placed alongside French-speaking imperialists. The CGI is mostly poor and noticeably weaker than the moments relying on practical effects. The action often feels constrained, not to build tension, but seemingly to limit the depiction of violence, which further undercuts any sense of danger or escalation.
