In Time Ratings & Reviews
- Matthias_812April 2, 2025An interesting sci-fi concept I could totally see Trump/the rich wanting to pull off if possible: a future where time is literally currency. In Time is a dystopian thriller with shades of Logan’s Run and Gattaca, but while its ideas are ambitious, its execution doesn’t quite measure up. Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried aren't the most genuine duo, as they attempt a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style rebellion against the system. I liked the visual style, with a mix of futuristic minimalism and noir-inspired grit. But as intriguing as the premise is, In Time never fully explores its own ideas, often favoring standard action with basic substance over deeper world-building or philosophical depth. Still, it’s a better ride than expected, and its themes of economic inequality and wealth disparity are relevant. It may not be as smart as it thinks it is, but In Time makes Timberlake call Olivia Wilde "mommy" only something one could dream of.
