Host Ratings & Reviews
- PureSp1r1tSeptember 6, 2025Easily one of the greatest horror movies of all time. Filmed during a pandemic, entirely through zoom. The actors were all sent the equipment they needed to do their own stunts. This movie deserves a 6 out of 5.
- Timeless CinemaJune 26, 2025Host delivers a decent story, horror, and tension. All in under 1 hour.
- Nicholas FlorioDecember 16, 2025Scarrryyy! Didn't their mother's tell them not to mess around with that stuff?
- TroyJonesTVDecember 14, 2025Very good movie made especially appreciative due to this being made during lockdown. Great job.
- Victor A. RamirezApril 24, 2025Much better than Unfriended.
- cultfilmlikerOctober 15, 2025Is this a metaphor for COVID? jk Genuinely scary. Terrifying even! Very glad I watched this AFTER I took my walk alone in the dark. Perfect film to watch au naturale Love the assorted group of friends First fakeout is an all-timer and the face filter fucked me up Honestly love the cheap ending. Sometimes it works lol and the credits rock The authenticity of the audio frequently cutting out (esp early on) might have been a little much in retrospect lol unless it actually is authentic!?!
- jackmeatDecember 3, 2025My quick rating - 6.4/10. For what they had to work with and being in lockdown during making this, I am very impressed. By far exceeds any of the nonsense the Paranormal Activity flicks did for scares. The actors were perfectly annoying as all hell, as I know they were supposed to be. This may bug you, but realize it was a necessary component of it. I would score it even higher had one thing constantly bugged me during this. No one on the planet if they were going through what these ladies were going through, would ALL be so desperate to make absolutely sure to be filming what was going on. When you watch, you'll know what I mean. Beyond that, though, this is a very good quarantine flick that I am sure is going to be huge due to just how timely it is. Bring on the onslaught of rip-offs that will be coming. Only time will tell if they can do better. Rob Savage does have a keen eye for tension, and I am looking forward to his upcoming take on The Boogeyman, which will be coming out in June 2023.

- Mort RavencrowzOctober 27, 2025If you want to be scared while watching a movie this is the one. Made me jump 😄
- rg9400October 20, 2025I saw this movie near the very top (alternating between 1st and 2nd) on a list of scary movies measured by studying viewer heart rates and heart rate variability. Noticing that it was only an hour long and took place on a Zoom call, I went in very skeptical. I was really surprised by how effective this movie is. It is extremely taut and lean at its hour runtime, and it uses that time to really effectively build dread and anticipation for the inevitable jump scares. There are a lot of them, and despite being filmed entirely through the lens of a Zoom call, they work really well. However, I think the aspect that really makes this movie tick isn't the actual jump scares but the way that it alternates between each character's camera, showcasing their dread while ratcheting up the anxiety on what is going to happen next and to whom. Considering that almost every minute of this movie is intentional in that regard, it is no wonder it performs so highly in that scare metric. Even if you don't think it is necessarily a great movie, I think it's hard to argue with how on alert it makes you as a viewer. The acting was also a surprise, I think each actress was very good despite all of them being unknown. I do think the Zoom call does feel more like a dated relic of the pandemic time than a mechanic in its own right, but as I said, it allows for this seamless switch between the characters being the active person and then suddenly becoming a passive observer to another character's camera. I don't necessarily think that was the intent behind it being on Zoom, but it really amplifies the efficient pacing to deliver on a diverse number of scares. Overall, I'm not sure this movie has a ton of plot or character development or themes. However, if you are looking for a movie to scare you and deliver a tense atmosphere, I think this movie will deliver in spades.
- The Gutter MonkeyOctober 13, 2025The story goes nowhere and the character decisions are forced and silly, but it's fun and the jump scares land, so I still liked it.
- StairwaytothestarsSeptember 30, 2025A scary pleasant surprise, and you never want to HOST a party and invite the paranormal!
