- Samurai 7This is one of those bargain-bin anime. It's not terrible, but I only say that because I have watched some truly terrible anime. The real downside of this anime, other than CGI, is that they completely lost the theme of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, which even The Magnificent Seven picked up on. In-case you haven't seen the original movie, or it's western adaptation, the movie's theme calls into question the life of a samurai, what purpose they have without a lord, is it merely to die protecting peasants against dishonorable bandits? It was an important theme at film's release time, because large portions of Japan's population still held onto feudalistic traditions and, because of that, Kurosawa's movie did not sit well with many Japanese people. Seven Samurai, the movie, revealed flaws in the morality of traditional samurai culture, giving it a well-earned title of being a revolutionary film. So, it's a shame that this anime merely mimics some of the events of Kurosawa's movie, making up the rest with extremely dated 2000's anime tropes, and doesn't carry on the soul. That said, it does add a nice flavor of steampunk, and who doesn't like steampunk? Again, it's not terrible, but bargain-bin at best.Samurai 7
- The Twelve KingdomsTop 3 OST of all time. Maybe best redemption arc. They don't make "high fantasy" style anime like this any more, which is a bit of a shame, but if you're a fan of the high fantasy genre, such as Record of Lodoss War or Escaflowne, chances are, you've seen this, but if not, you should. Solid hook, solid story, solid OST, but no solid snake... he's in another anime called Fushigi Yugi, which I recommend staying far away from. The Twelve Kingdoms
- BloodsportFavorite-movie-of-all-time!!! Is Frank Dux a narcissistic poser? Yeah. Was Jean Claude a coke addicted 80's star? True. Has MMA ruined everyone's perception on mystical kung-fu moves? Definitely. But, still, is this movie chalked full of testosterone goodness? Let's just say if you went in as a hairless ape, you'll come out a gorilla by the end of the movie. Frank Dux maybe fake, but Jean Claude is not. If you watched any of Jean Claude's kick boxing fights from back in the day, this guy had feet that moved like lighting, truly scary stuff. When Jean says he was world champ, he's not lying, because K1 didn't exist in his time, unlike some people... Bloodsport is why simple stories work. I'd like to quote a famous programmer we all know and love, "Idiots admire complexity, geniuses admire simplicity." I'm sure you can appreciate how this totally awesome movie is driven by such a simplistic but entirely functional story.Bloodsport

- Meet John DoeI don't know why people say this show has this-or-that political vibes when it's more than obvious the theme of the show is about working together and being friends with your neighbor, that's it. The line that gets this show it's criticism is the tear down your fence line, which in modern political climate is a touchy subject. I get it, borders are vital to the survival of a nation, but that's not what this show was getting at and it's an unfair to hold it against the entire movie when there are much better themes in place, such as the power of a true grass-root movement to overthrow oligarchy and how billionaires manipulate grass-root movements to suit their own agendas. Now, if we actually rate Meet John Doe for what it truly is, without the shade cast on it, it's a bit of a sappy flick with some cheesy scenes, such as Cooper's make-believe baseball scene or the girl gets sick and faints into her love interest's arms trope, but the director integrates all the cheesy scenes to make it work for the story and the acting for silver screen is top notch making this an absolutely recommended movie, with one caveat... if you're sensitive to the suicide subject, I might tell you to give it a pass. The silver screen is a treasure trove of good stories brought to life and while this one is good, it's not a must watch. I honestly don't know how they got the producers to sign onto a script where the hook and pivotal climax is based upon the idea of suicide, but it was handled with care and weaved nicely into the story. With that, I say this is a solid 4/5 and a thumbs up!Meet John Doe
- The UntouchablesIt's hard to watch anything with the "FBI" now, knowing how disgustingly corrupt and criminal they have become, however, this is one of those shows where the backstory is just as good as the show. Did you know that Eliot Ness was a prohibition officer? AKA ATF? I know, it doesn't make it better, but did you also know that he didn't have much to do with arresting Capone and the mob? Yeah that was the IRS, I know, they actually did something good for once. What is true is that Eliot Ness's crew did receive the name untouchables because Capone couldn't buy them out, and Eliot Ness was an honest officer, he was the harbinger of rights for the accused and ethics in criminal prosecution. Eliot Ness did help write this show and did want the show to be more "realistic" than what Hollywood wanted. Now, if you think like I do about the FBI, you might like to hear the small fact that the FBI hated this show and petitioned to shut it down, along with Capone's Family. Give The Untouchables a chance, it's a darn good show! The Untouchables
- Initial DHow can you not like Initial D? It's got horrible art work? Yeah, true. The story is garbage? Okay, you have a point. The female characters are hoes? I could see that. It's MC is marry sue af? Yeah, okay, that all maybe true but the music, cars and real-life touge racing tactics... Just unbeatable. I love this series, even if most of it is objectively awful, because it's the right kind of awful.Initial D
- Outlaw StarI don't understand why this gets a mid rating. Objectively, this is the best anime in existence, when comparing all aspects of animation mediums: story, hook, theme, creativity, uniqueness, audio, voice acting, animation quality, etc. Yes, there are anime that have better audio, there are those that do atmosphere better, some anime have better characters, there are those that have a better story, but Outlaw Star is the Star Wars of science fiction anime, it does everything very well. Cowboy Bebop does characters, voice acting, and action better, but story, music, pacing, hook, animation, story objects, connecting with the audience, theme, Outlaw Star wins, sometimes barely, but wins non-the-less. It's a shame that it doesn't get the fame Cowboy Bebop gets, at least, even though it objectively beats Cowboy Bebop in most aspects.Outlaw Star
- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no YaibaDemon Slayer is how to do action monster hunting genre correctly. It's landed itself into the S-tier class of anime and a staple in anyone's library. The one drawback I find is that they kind of blueball you a few times during climatic MC fights, granted, they do steer away from doing this in later seasons, but not completely, so I won't hold it against them until I see how the series ends.Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba
- The Promised NeverlandMuch like LOST, this series uses J.J Abrams' "mystery box" formula. But, unlike J.J Abrams, the author of this series actually knows whats in the box (the Seven pun not intended :P). I highly recommend this for anyone in the mood for a dark twisty thriller, it's very thought provoking. Most manga purists say season 2 is a flop, but I actually accept season 2 as a fitting close. I feel like manga purists use their manga knowledge inappropriately more often than not.The Promised Neverland
- Dragon Ball ZYou know how many gym memberships this anime sold? There other anime like Hajime No Ippo that inspire working out, but nothing like DBZ. Bruce Faulconer and Jeremy Sweet? Yeah, that's some real mood setting music. How can you not love an anime that inspires you to become stronger? How can you not appreciate Sean Schemmel powering up in a mic for 2 minutes straight?Dragon Ball Z
- Yu Yu HakushoTo this day, best tourney arc in anime, not even close competition. This series goes hard until the end. Anyone who loves anime, this is a must watch before reviewing any other seinen anime. If you can't acknowledge what this anime did better than other seinen, it's time to do some deep soul searching.Yu Yu Hakusho
- Dororo (2019) • Season 1Do you like Beserk? Do you like Demon Slayer? Inuyasha? Yeah? Dororo is like those but it actually has an ending! ... even if it is a little bit rushed, but it -has- an ending!Dororo (2019) • Season 1
- Initial D • Specials • Extra Stage 1 Part 1 - Beyond Impact Blue...I love Initial D, it's one of my guilty pleasures, even though I'll never mention it on the car forums, least I be laughed out of the forum, but there are some things it does not do well, and one of those is character art style. It's awful, just plain and simple. So, why the low rating? The whole point of this 2-part movie is to show off Sayuki and Mako's poorly drawn tiddies. As a hormone infused kid in the 90's I see why this might have been interesting, but as an adult in the 2020's, it's super cringe. This is a skip, just go straight to Third Stage.Initial D • Specials • Extra Stage 1 Part 1 - Beyond Impact Blue...
