The invasion of an alien race known as the Oni begins a new life for Ataru Moroboshi, a lecherous trouble-making tenth grader in the small town of Tomobiki. After unwittingly proposing to the Oni princess Lum Invader instead of his sweetheart Shinobu, Ataru becomes a conduit for aliens arriving on Earth, causing all sorts of havoc for him and his companions, not to mention his own reputation!

Ran convinces her to let her borrow one so she can open a sherbet stand on Earth to make some money, but the combination of being overworked and under the heat drives the sherbet to become cranky and escape. For fear of Oyuki’s retribution, Ran must catch the pesky bird that an angry Benten is pursuing for trashing her bike while going on a rampage shooting cones all over Tomobiki.

Catch the HeartRan purchases a pouch of heart candies that cause a heart to appear over whoever eats one who becomes entirely devoted to the person who grabs that heart and tries to use them with Rei only to fail. The candies then fall in the hands of Lum who eats one and it quickly becomes obvious to her lovestruck male classmates at school that the one who grabs the heart over her head will win her unquestioning devotion while Ataru tries to use those candies to get the other girls’ devotions.
