Ghosts Ratings & Reviews
SFX Magazine
Alex Avard
Only the sharpest and strongest writing can make up for a lack of action, and while The Walking Dead has its moments of nuance and sophistication, it's script rarely justifies the constant deceleration of pace.

The beginning of "Ghosts" gave off those same horrific vibes... It's insanely tense, and though the sequence only last two or so minutes, a clear highlight of the episode.
Culturess
Sonya Iryna
The meeting at the border may be one of the finest conflict scenes The Walking Dead has ever done. It's tense and taut.
Pajiba
Brian Richards
Another well-made episode that is building up to the eventual war with Daryl, Michonne, and company vs. Alpha, Beta, and The Whisperers.

All the "maybe these are hallucinations, maybe not" scenes makes me wonder if I am hallucinating.
New York Magazine/Vulture

Dear Eugene: Please stick to the overwritten one-liners and the inexplicable ability to provide essential intel - from zombie head counts to weather patterns - whenever needed.
indieWire
Jeff Stone
There is some incremental progress made in the Whisperer storyline during "Ghosts", but otherwise it's a bunch of uninspired or redundant character work.
TV Fanatic
Paul Dailly
That was tense from start to finish.
Geek Girl Authority
Noetta Harjo
This was very interesting episode of The Walking Dead. I don't think the TWD writers have focused on the trauma of the apocalypse this much since Rick left. We always dealt with his trauma, guilt, PTSD, and grief, but not so much the other characters.

Rob Bricken
That beginning sequence was outstanding, building tension expertly.
Lyles' Movie Files
Jeffrey Lyles
Ghosts didn't match the heights of the previous two episodes... That doesn't suggest this was a bad episode at all as the Whisperers wall of walkers and Negan's emergence into useful killing machine opens up some very intriguing storylines.
Tell-Tale TV
Kevin Lever
The walker onslaught opening the episode is one of the more chilling images The Walking Dead has played with so far this season, creating this sense of doom as there is seemingly no end in sight.
Father Son Holy Gore
C.H. Newell
A lot going in this episode. Many interesting things progressing, such as new developments with Carol, and it's fun to see the various things that are pulling people together v. what's tearing them apart.

All told, this was one of the best episodes I've seen from The Walking Dead in a long time. Exciting action. Great dialogue. Some trippy bits with Carol that were scary and tense.

Dustin Rowles
"Ghosts" is terrific in the way it advances the story, develops four characters in new ways, and ties those storylines together on a theme.
Den of Geek
Ron Hogan
It pushes the main plot of the season, the conflict with the Whisperers, forward without neglecting the natural tension and conflict that exists between the survivors.
IGN Movies
Matt Fowler
Overall, "Ghosts" had some good action and decent character progression, but the most anxious and pressing parts seemed to happen in the first five minutes.
AV Club
Alex McLevy
Messy and awkwardly paced, everything here felt scattershot and emotionally ineffectual. When the highlight of your episode is Negan flashing a thumbs-up sign, something's gone wrong.
We Live Entertainment
Aaron Neuwirth
"Ghosts" is more about moving the plot forward this week, but even then, the creative sparks really seem to be flying.
