Or as I like to call it: Germany’s gloriously low sci-fi answer to Star Trek, but with more ironing boards and fewer budget dollars. This German sci-fi series aired just nine days after Star Trek debuted in the U.S., but it feels like it came from a parallel universe. The show’s production is famously low budget, but that’s part of its charm. Control panels were made from irons and plastic cups and the futuristic furniture looked like it came straight from a 1960s nightclub. Space Patrol is what happens when you give a sci-fi show a tiny budget, a big imagination, and zero fear of looking ridiculous.
