  • Cradle Mountain

    Cradle MountainErnie catches a helicopter to Cradle Mountain in Tasmania on the way to Dove Lake. A May bushwalk through fields of button grass, wombats and snow. At Trowunna wildlife park Ernie feeds Tasmanian Devils and gets hands-on with Quolls. Back at Dove Lake Ernie learns about Tasmanian Aboriginal culture.

    IkaraErnie travels to Ikara also known as Wilpena Pound in the spectacular Flinders Ranges National Park in South Australia and meets an Adnyamathanha Elder, a passionate cultural guide, a young pilot and a National Park's ranger.
  • Wet Tropics

    Wet TropicsIn Far North Queensland, Ernie meets with locals that have settled in the widespread rainforests and finds there is pressure between them and farmers on the fringes of these important wildlife areas. Up in the treetops Ernie sees where the reef meets the rainforest. Down on the Daintree River Ernie discovers the plants, birds and animals of the mangroves. At Mission Beach the cassowaries have an idyllic life, but development looms.
  • Great Ocean Road

    Great Ocean RoadErnie travels the Great Ocean Road in Victoria and stops at Port Campbell to appreciate the wild vista of the Twelve Apostles by helicopter. On day 2 he visits the Place of Wonder, a diverse habitat garden, and samples beetroot falafel. Day 3 sees Ernie on a boat trip in the wild waters of the "Shipwreck Coast" for a close look at Muttonbird Island and the dramatic weathered rock formations.

    WaibenErnie travels to Thursday Island (Waiben) in Torres Strait. After an interview at the local radio station he visits the Gully Community Garden. The Kazu Pearl farm on Friday Island is next and on his last day Ernie spends time with Kaurareg elder Milton Savage for the spiritual story.
  • Kangaroo Island

    Kangaroo IslandErnie is ferried across to Kangaroo Island to see the unique wildlife and recycled art. Tammar Wallabies are spotted at night and the next day it's off to Stokes Bay to see the now sandless beach. Later, Ernie dons a wet suit to swim with Dolphins, then it's over to Flinders Chase National park to see the Remarkable Rocks.

    K'GariK'gari, also known as Fraser Island is Ernie's next destination. He meets up with a proud Butchulla man, a four wheel drive enthusiast and a determined woman with a special connection to whales.
