Season 5 Ratings & Reviews
Entertainment Weekly
Tanner Stransky
The five-year fast-forward was a stroke of genius, effectively increasing our insight into these ladies' world by twofold.
TV Guide
Matt Roush
Wisteria Lane once again is an irresistible place to revisit.
CinemaBlend
Kelly West
With so many crazy things going on in their lives, the move ahead will hopefully refresh the series and make room for new story arcs and more crazy (and often dark) drama to play out in the little cul-de-sac.
Boston Globe
Joanna Weiss
There is, undeniably, something about these characters and performances that sticks.
Entertainment Weekly
Ken Tucker
This season, the Housewives aren't desperate: They're avidly ambitious, like the series itself.
7M Pictures
Kevin Carr
I'm tired of the characters. They really seemed to have run their course.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Rob Owen
The sort of quips in Cherry's script are the reason I continue to tune in.
USA Today
Robert Bianco
[The season finale of] Desperate Housewives mostly seemed to be spinning its wheels, desperately trying to build suspense around an event we never really feared was going to happen.
The Hollywood Reporter
Barry Garron
[The season 5 premiere] has the wit and bite that made the series a standout, but it has jettisoned much of the dramatic baggage that had begun to weigh the show down.
People Magazine
Tom Gliatto
Housewives creator Marc Cherry took an unusual gamble with the new season, spinning the plot forward five years. This might seem a desperate way to freshen up an aging show in need of a little Botox, but it's paying off beautifully.
Variety
Brian Lowry
The truth is the series has stayed relatively solid through its run.
Newark Star-Ledger
Alan Sepinwall
If you gave up on this one because it seemed tired or just annoying in its familiarity, now might be a good time to try a return visit.
