As Leonel struggles to free himself from his captors, Alba begins to trust Sebastián. The teacher tells her about the pain she carries in her soul, and the doctor approaches to comfort her. Falling completely into Sebastián's trap, Alba begins to trust him. After he comforts her for the pain she harbors in her heart, the teacher and the doctor share their first kiss. Feigning concern for her brother's well-being, Atocha expresses her happiness at knowing he is alive. However, once alone, she laments Leonel's good fortune and vows that one day she will put an end to him. Striving to feign kindness, Sebastián manages to gain Alba's trust. Alone, the doctor berates himself for falling in love with the teacher and interrupting his true plans.
