The Matrix Ratings & Reviews
- AdminSampson2d agoStylish with a great concept. The concept of the movie - a dystopian world where AI has taken over and subjected humans to their machinations is a more timely note than ever. The premise of a matrix is quite fascinating and also well thought out. The execution combined sharp choreography with spectacle. The action was captivating and stylish. My only complaint is that some of the fight scenes seemed a bit cartoonish as Neo and the agent flew around the screen (very obviously on wire). This may have been a call back to Chinese kung fu movies which would be interesting (if it's true) but made otherwise cool action scenes feel a bit hollow. Overall, would recommend for a fun, brainy movie.
- JakeysDecember 30, 2025One of the best movies of all time, and possibly my favourite. Every single aspect of it is astoundingly good, other than the flimsy humans as batteries logic. Still, a nitpick in an otherwise phenomenal and generationally important movie.
- Daniel GustavssonOctober 12, 2024Forever one of the best sci fi movies ever. Almost entirely perfect and much better than the sequels. It's also fascinating how good this movie looks after all these years.
- Michael SurberNovember 18, 2025Still one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made. Say what you will about 2001, this film was just as revolutionary and technologically advanced as any film that had gone before. Including everything that ILM had created for Star Wars. Watch this again like it was the first time and try not to have your mind blown with "bullet time" and the 360 degree camera shots. Then remember that no one had EVER shot film like that before. Still incredible.
- darsanMay 30, 2025"you take the blue pill... the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. you take the red pill... you stay in wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes" GODDAMN IM SOO GLAD THAT I RE-WATCHED THIS, THE EFFECTS STILL HOLD UP GREAT AND I CAN'T BELIEVE IT WAS 26 years ago.
- CubaneDecember 7, 2025An uncontested classic. But someone really should tell the machines that there are more efficient sources of energy than keeping humans in bathtubs.
- รҡ૨אρƭเ∂March 2, 2025One of the greatest screenplays ever written. 9.8/10
- AngusMcNutzFebruary 24, 2025Probably one of the first, if not the first, films to pique my interest in cinematography. Under a microscope, this movie is full of narrative holes and clunky metaphorical musings but the true sum of its parts stands out beautifully as a genuinely fun watch.
- thoughtsinchaosNovember 17, 2025s-tier sci-fi classic that predicted tech's omnipresent control over human life... a movie that still wields strong influence over art & culture in 2025
- Richard SSeptember 11, 2025Freaking cool af
- Jonas Hasle-JensenNovember 12, 2025An all time classic, a definite must see!
- Edson GabrielOctober 23, 2025Excellent movie!
- MofobianApril 29, 2025One of the first science fiction movies to really turn me into an existentialist.
- Camilo GutierrezOctober 7, 2025With this film, for the first time (actually, for the only time), I finished something feeling agitated and wanting to relive the experience, turn back time, and erase my memory so I could see it again.
- tellumSeptember 6, 2025Action, scifi, anime, stunt work, martial arts, special effects, editing, and filmmaking. This movie influences All of those things.
