The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim Ratings & Reviews
- Nick BanasJuly 26, 2025Giving this a solid 4 stars, it was entertaining, tied into the larger Lord of the Rings universe, and told a fresh story. Unlike a *certain* prequel series we won't mention in this review. Am I mad that elephants died? Eh. Am I happy to learn how Helm's Deep got its name? Definitely. If you're interested in watching a film that gives us a glimpse into the larger world of the Lord of the Rings, this is it.
- Ty LeetDecember 31, 2024Mediocre LOTR content, not great animation content.
- Billy ZaneMarch 29, 2025Not sure why all the bad reviews. Could have been a bit shorter, but it was an entertaining LOTR animated movie.
- eyeofthetornadoApril 27, 2025I watched the movie the day after I rewatch the two Towers extended edition So I have a vivid chance to compare two different movies that takes place in Helm’sDeep The Two Towers is a roaring river of excitement, The War of the Rohirrim is a wide, flowing lake — peaceful, even in the midst of battle. One is thrilling to the very bones; the other wraps you in an old, warm cloak of history and song. Both battles tell of courage against impossible odds. But when the lights dim and your head rests against your pillow, it is the animated tale that lingers softly, like the last notes of a lullaby, sending you into the sweetest dreams of Middle-earth. And so the two battles, though different in voice and shape, live happily together forever in the hearts of those who listen.
- danieloconnor340July 25, 2025Loved it Real japanese anime, studio ghibli vibes .. didnt play on the tolkien-esque connection as much as i woulf have liked, but very enjoyable !
- RegortJuly 3, 2025Full of cliches. Story sometimes even boring. It is a disappointment.
- James WakleyJuly 6, 2025Much much better than I was expecting. Enjoyed the animation style and the story was great. Really gave context into Helms Deep from the original motion picture movies.
- JLM @BlockbusterFebruary 9, 2025Artful yes. Lord of the Rings? Not as much. Unlike other mythologies where an animated show or movie slots into the cinematic continuity it belongs in, War of Rohirrim feels.. cheap at times when it tries to do the same. And just not rewatchable by any means.
- Darren WebsterDecember 29, 2024It's a fun watch. A bit long and windy at parts. It's totally made up, well, mostly. The female protaganist is 100% made up. Essentially, someone took the appendixes at the end of The Lord of The Rings and then tried to make an original work out of it. It's not Tolkien's writing or story. Just someone hoping that associating their made up crap with the legendary author will make them big. The really stupid thing is that the story itself isn't bad, a bit cliche maybe, but it isn't bad. Had they just called it something else and not tied it to LOTR, I honestly think nobody would GAF. instead, what youb get is someone using a beloved writer and his stories and world to gain some notoriety. Bottomline, it's okay. If you like more realistic anime, you'll liek this. And, honestly, if you like Peter Jackson's LOTR, well, you'll enjoy this.
- TomFebruary 11, 2025Amazing demonstration of what can come out of Lord of the Rings when the movie is even more fantastical. Great voice acting with well done fight scenes. Only thing that stops this from being 5* is a 5 minutes segment that felt a little slow in the middle of the movie.
