The Last Voyage of the Demeter Ratings & Reviews
- kingjay2619March 22, 2026Great movie
- sjerigFebruary 26, 2025A good expansion of the story found in the Captain's log from Bram Stoker's Dracula. While the story's ending was somewhat constrained, the character development was excellent and had me rooting for the poor characters who were placed once again into one of the ultimate literary battles between good and evil...
- espv5January 5, 2026Great spin on the Dracula tale. Some geniuenly scary scenes. The atmosphere is creepy throughout the whole film, filled with a sense of dread. Isolation horror done right.
- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025Wonderful set design, eery atmosphere, and a solid monster design make this a really good creature feature. It’s pretty light on story essentially adapting a single chapter of Bram Stoker’s Dracula into a feature length film, but let’s be honest. The entire draw for this film is…Dracula on a boat. And it delivers in that regard. It definitely leans in on jump scares for most of it’s scares, but there’s a good amount of other spine tingling moments as well, particularly when someone just catches a brief glimpse something in the night. The maritime setting is incorporated really effectively. Communicating via knocks on the hull, allocation of rations, managing night watches, are woven into the plot in meaningful ways beyond just setting the stage. I really enjoyed this. Worth checking out.
- JakeFebruary 2, 2026If you're a Draccy boi fan, this is worth a one time watch at the very least! The opening sequences are long winded, easily could have trimmed 20 minutes off this film. Each of the Captain's stunning surprises and later into their death was a bit undersold in the acting department, all the rest of the cast seemed to nail the tension however. Cinematics are visually impressive, the Captain's perspective narrative flows well, overall solid homage to Stoker's original piece.
- HakihikoJanuary 19, 2026Atmospheric, but Overstretched "The last voyage of the Demeter" is a film that gets many of the technical and atmospheric elements right, but ultimately struggles with pacing and narrative weight. There's a strong sense of mood throughout, and on a purely aesthetic level the movie often works very well. The locations and production design are effective, creating a confined and oppressive setting that fits the story. The cinematography makes good use of shadows and space, while the music reinforces the tension without becoming overbearing. Performances are solid across the board, grounding the film and helping maintain a serious, committed tone. Where the film falters is in its rhythm. Several scenes linger longer than they should, stretching moments that don't add much new to the story. As a result, the movie feels overlong for what it's actually trying to tell, with tension occasionally giving way to repetition rather than escalation. "The last voyage of the Demeter" is competently made and often engaging, but its impact is dulled by pacing issues. With a tighter edit and more narrative momentum, it could have been far more effective.
- Enes ŞahinDecember 20, 2025Neither very bad nor very good, I'd give it a 5 out of 10. The cast is good, the script isn't bad. There are too many dialogue scenes and I got bored while watching it; the production seems inadequate. Some action scenes are too short. Is it worth watching? If you like this type of production, give it a chance.
- blood700December 16, 2025Truly underrated by those who have no ability to comprehend originality nor well done horror. So yeah, a lot of people.
- JesseWelshNovember 22, 2025A slightly gory movie. Age 13+. I liked it a lot. Umm, some moments I found myself saying "why would you do that crew mate”. Predictable, not realistic thinking. Director and writer could have made a better movie. All the actors/actress were phenomenal. Ending was the way I thought it would be. Worth the time to watch💯. Not really rewatch able to me though. It could have been written better. 3 1/2 out of 5 stars for me. Fair I think.
- Darren KnightNovember 19, 2025Great vampire story!!
- KieronSeptember 2, 2025Despite inspired performances and gnarly vampire gore, Demeter never leaves port for something more creative than adapting exposition from the source material. A forgettable, missed opportunity with a sequel-baiting conclusion that is problematic to anyone familiar with Dracula or its many adaptations.
- carlos.567August 20, 2025Fun and interestig. Giod envieonmwnr and epoc repeesentation. Aome scares and gire but nor too much.
- naren shenoyJuly 18, 2025Well done even though you know how it's going to end. Love the take on Dracula's monster form how they incorporated facial expressions, which made him more sinister. If you're a Dracula fan it's worth the watch.
- disulfiramJune 21, 2025Fun time with friends
- AngusMcNutzDecember 28, 2024They really need to fix the rift that keeps dropping early-2000s garbage into the present day.
