- BurnharmMay 17, 2026I really enjoyed *The Count of Monte Cristo*, and as someone who loves the book, I thought the first half was especially strong. The betrayal, prison scenes, and Edmond’s transformation are engaging and beautifully presented, and I can see why many reviews have praised the film as a big, old-fashioned adventure. I was less convinced by the ending, which felt different from what I remember from the novel, but that didn’t ruin the experience for me. Anaïs Demoustier was also excellent as Mercédès, bringing a lot of emotion to the role.
- Tom CooperMay 16, 2025I'm glad to see people still can make great epic films like this. Far superior to the American version. Excellent acting, pacing, writing, cinematography, sound, directing and story. You might think 3 hours is too long, I say not quite long enough!

- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025This certainly has the benefit of being an adaptation of the greatest revenge fantasy story ever told. Wrongfully accused, sent off to prison and the love of your life stolen away from you only to stumble upon the greatest cache of F🤩k You Money ever so that you can meticulously plan the most elaborate and exacting revenge on your enemies possible. The story never gets old and I loved this adaptation from the opening frames. The depiction of the shipwreck completely grabs your attention and the production and cinematography are pretty stellar throughout. Even at 3 hours, the film zips along at a brisk pace that you never really feel the length. Wish I had made the effort to catch this in cinemas. My kids really can’t sit through a 3 hour subtitled film yet but this does kind of make want to make them.
