- James SaenzNovember 29, 2025“i could hear my heart beating. i could hear everyone's heart. i could hear the human noise we sat there making, not one of us moving, not even when the room went dark.” i owe a lot of my identity to this film and similar works of art that i was exposed to in high school. it appealed to my tumblr-obsessed sensibilities, and i fell in love with raymond carver’s writing because of it. it barely counts as a thanksgiving film, but i don’t care; it’s hopeful and sincere and it’s a warm footnote to the end of the holiday.
