Purple Rain Ratings & Reviews
- .LAGJuly 26, 2025I don't know how many of them exist, but this has to be one of the greatest music album-to-mooophie crossovers of all times. Everything just works.
- Scott Smith1d agoOK, it's dated, it's corny, the acting is...well, not great. But, as a Minneapolis native, this movie is semi-legendary to me. Tons of great local scenery and it captures a very specific time in Minneapolis music history. Not to mention that the music and soundtrack are top notch and excellent. Prince was a local legend in the MPLS music scene, and this movie catches him at the starting point of his meteoric career. I'll always have a soft spot for this movie.
- Eric BakkeOctober 13, 2024Are we supposed to be rooting for Prince? It's funny how incredibly unlikable the protagonist is in this film.
