- James SaenzApril 12, 2026“listen to me kid, when you get involved with the opposite sex you're only asking for trouble!” “yes, and that's the kind of trouble i stay out of.” “youse two don't need the opposite sex ‘cause youse got each other!” not meowth outing jessie and james’ lesbian relationship just because james chose to come out. like obviously jessie is futch and james is transfemme but clearly they weren’t ready to go public about their relationship and that’s pretty fucked up of meowth. i remember having a crush on melody as a kid, and that was a big point of internal conflict because i already had a major crush on misty. little did child me know that the real love of my life was professor ivy. shoutout to slowking; i don’t typically like when pokémon talk (it would’ve been way better if lugia didn’t speak) but slowking is just a chill guy. that’s my buddy that i invite over after work to have a few drinks and watch movies with so he gets a pass. when team rocket started their monologue saying, “prepare for more trouble than you've ever seen! make it double; we’re on the big screen!” and then ash cuts them off by saying, “i’m going to have to catch this on video!” i legitimately cackled, but then it triggered a memory for me: i went to go watch this at the dollar theater when i was like almost five years old. that was months after its normal theatrical release and after it was already on vhs. that’s the power of extended theatrical runs and small dollar theaters and we’re losing that magic in today’s world of restricted theatrical runs and straight to streaming models and that makes me so sad. p.s. even after nearly thirty years, ash saying “i’m the chosen one!” then immediately hard cutting to him freezing in the snow saying “right now i feel more like the frozen one!” is comedy gold.
- cyberpu7December 16, 2025Another VHS I had back then alongside so many others.. Sometimes a movie has the power to take you back to a certain place in time, nostalgia doing its best work. The y2k flair in these movies that released around this time were as unmistakable as they are unforgettable for those that remember.
