Pacific Rim Ratings & Reviews
- Vincent Reggiannini2d agoIf you want to see the difference between a cookie-cutter Hollywood attempt at a blockbuster and a passion project by the word’s most artistic geek watch Pacific Rim and its sequel. Del Toro makes the first film a technological masterpiece - a true vision polished and made perfect by someone who wants his fantasy worlds to resonate. The giant mechs in this film feel massive. They move with weight and power, which helps the intimidation factor from the kaiju they battle. The tiny details add to the realism that a movie like this demands, less it become a light-weight cartoonish fantasy romp. Want to see what you get when a lesser director gets ahold of the same property? Watch the dreadful sequel to this movie, and you’ll come running back to this first iteration over and over. Thank you, Guillermo. Masterfully done, sir.

- Elio PulidoMarch 25, 2025I love this movie so much so good. Can't stop watching it
- M08YOctober 25, 2025Glorious Nonsense. Pacific Rim is a film that you should fully disengage your brain for to enjoy. There are big robots, bigger monsters and nuclear explosions. All the usual good things. As previously mentioned however, it's total nonsense that doesn't make any attempt to take itself seriously. The main characters are all pretty bland and the side characters genuinely awful. Burn Gorman here is the most baffling addition to a film I've seen in a while. Even Idris Elba doesnt manage to find his rhythm here and seems lost for most of the film. The 4K bluray looks really really good, although you never fully escape from knowing that quite literally the entire film is CGI. The audio is fine, but lacked some of the impact you'd expect for giant mech suits battling.
- Spencer MBJuly 10, 2025Shame this never got a sequel. (if you can't tell this is sarcasm, get your brain checked)
- LezduitOctober 3, 2025If "Hell yeah" was a movie. Had some silly plotholes here and there
- Jett RehmJuly 24, 2025Best movie of all time
- KizOctober 3, 2025Utterly fantastic from begining to end. The best movie about giant robots we'll probably ever see. The only thing keeping me from giving it a perfect rating is the score is a bit off in some places and unvaried. Everything else is incredible and it still holds up all these years later. Shame there's no sequel though
- EricSeptember 17, 2025Closest hollywood movie I will get to gundam and I will gladly accept. I am glad this is the only movie in the franchise and they didn't ruin with a needless and souless sequel that ends up killing a main character in a very stupid way. That would suck.
- Mister ArnMay 18, 2025This movie has action and special effects, but that's all. If you're looking for a plot and acting in Pacific Rim, you will be disappointed. Giant robots fighting monsters with the world in the balance, it's Godzilla redone.
- dan3680August 18, 2025The acting was a bit stiff, but, other than that, the movie was very fun to watch.
- MadEyeBJuly 12, 2025Fun, forgettable, loud summer popcorn movie. If you want to see giant robots beat up giant monsters... look no further.
- noorabi5July 4, 2025Best movie ever
- DaveJuly 3, 2025Who doesn’t love big a$$ robots fighting big a$$ monsters with the fate of mankind in the balance? Just enough story and development of characters to make them likable and tug ever so slightly at your emotions when they die in a blaze of destruction and mayhem. I enjoy this film for the entertainment value—you don’t have to overthink it. I wish they’d make a few more (at the same quality).
