Nosferatu Ratings & Reviews
- enzo19654d agoLily Ann Depp is amazing; not the best Eggart’s movie, maybe because Dracula’s story has been told so many time, so it’s a sort of deja-vu, but I think Depp’s acting is something, she believes in the movie, that becomes too small for her. It’s already happened in the tv show she starred, don’t remember the title, the show was terrible in every aspects, but her acting and presence was on another level.
- ScottJanuary 5, 2025Lily-Rose Depp does the ‘wolf ripping shirt’ pose and it rules. Exactly what you’ve come to expect from a Robert Eggers movie. Slow, somber, beautifully shot, and underscores how in a race for progress we push away everyone we love. Most of all women.
- DJDecember 27, 2024Robert Eggers is trying his hardest to bring story telling to horror and with each film he moves closer to that perfection. As always with Eggers his artistic flair and period piece is on full display with Nosferatu. This gothic, atmospheric movie hits every target it wants too with precision. This movie is vicious and violent, don’t let a period piece part make you think otherwise. The horror genre is booming right now and it’s a perfect time for new masters to come along; such as Eggers, Ti West and Ari Aster.
- RipLinesManApril 8, 2025Nosferatu glides like a gothic fever dream through a candlelit void, and while it doesn't flay your soul like Event Horizon (1997), it caresses it with a velvet glove dipped in centuries-old blood—both films whisper to the dark parts of you, but one does it with dread, the other with elegance.
- ElliJanuary 23, 2025Surprisingly better than I thought it would be. Lily-Rose Depp is really good in this one. It's really a 2024 movie but they pulled it off. I enjoyed it, absolutely worth a watch.
- Hipster ZOMBIEJanuary 24, 2025Director Robert Eggers is the master of creating an atmosphere of dread that encompasses his films. Whether it’s the VVitch or Nosferatu, Eggers way with imagery will stay with you long after you have finished one of his films. Nosferatu is a slow burn but one worth checking out.
- rg9400January 21, 2025I was stunned by Nosferatu. Within seconds, I became totally immersed in this gothic world, letting the jawdropping imagery envelop me. To be honest, Robert Eggers has been a bit of a mixed bag for me. While I enjoyed The VVitch, I've found his other movies to be more obtuse, focusing on cinematography and vibes rather than the whole product, often sacrificing themes, character, and plot. Nosferatu is an improvement across the board. This is his most narratively straightforward movie, probably due to both the original movie and Bram Stoker's Dracula laying out the blueprint. However, he never shortchanges the story in service of vibes (something I feel he does often in his movies), often letting it play out beat by beat and actually focusing in on the characters, themes, and emotions. The cinematography is stunning, with multiple memorable scenes that took my breath away. There are scenes in this movie that I can already tell will be studied and referenced by future filmmakers. Even outside the showstopper scenes, everything is shot in such a cinematic way that fully immerses you into the lush sets and costume designs. The acting is phenomenal across the board. I was initially worried by Lily-Rose Depp due to a slightly inconvincing early scene, but she does an excellent job, really excelling during Ellen's fits. Nicholas Hoult continues to impress me with his extremely expressive face, but the biggest surprise was Aaron Taylor-Johnson who blended right in with the rest of the stellar cast. In a lot of ways, this movie feels like Eggers' magnum opus. I will say that the first half of this movie feels stronger than the second half with a much tighter pacing and ratcheting tension. Even with a more methodical pace, the second half still has plenty of showstopper scenes. This is a Christmastime horror movie that I am sure will become a classic and a part of cinema history.

- PatrikStarFebruary 1, 2025He sucked that all night. Respectable.
- Rowan KrzysiakFebruary 24, 2025This film is so terrible. There's an incredible interpretation of Nosferatu with Herzog's take. The thing is, if it lifted from that film it would merely nod to the fact that this version is completely unnecessary. So it goes its own direction one that lacks the subtlety and class of its predecessors. More than that, the performances and dialogue are truly dreadful. Worst of all though is the seeping through of the ego of the production onto the screen. That is the true horror.
- Hugo SousaFebruary 2, 2025Could’ve done without Orlok’s mustache but otherwise it’s surprisingly good. Quirky and good. 👌
- Matthias_812April 2, 2025Robert Eggers brings his signature atmospheric tension and historical authenticity to this retelling. While it's marvelous to look at, there's nothing real surprising here to the Nosferatu story. Bill Skarsgård as Count Orlok is incredible as is the design of the creature. His portrayal deviates from the romanticized vampire archetype, presenting Orlok as a grotesque rotting corpse. The visual composition, with its interplay of light and shadow, pays homage to the original film adaptation's German Expressionism while also incorporating modern techniques. Maybe it's the already familiarity of the story but found it to lack a special oomph. Nonetheless it's a great piece of filmmaking and as a big folk horror fan- this hits the mark.
- KentMarch 28, 2025Bill Skarsgård, as the infamous Count Orlok, is mesmerizing. His ability to convey menace and longing is nothing short of remarkable. It's fascinating to witness his transformation, both physically and emotionally, into this legendary character. He certainly leans into those sinister vibes! Of course, one can’t ignore the fact that his voice occasionally comes across as somewhat awkward and a bit too slow for the film’s pacing. But let’s not overthink it; maybe that just adds to the character’s unsettling charm? After all, it’s not easy keeping up with some of the otherworldly sights in this film! And speaking of otherworldly, can we take a moment to recognize Skarsgård's newfound position as the go-to actor for roles involving heavy prosthetic makeup? It's almost like Hollywood has a Skarsgård quota for creepy characters at this point! Honestly, how does he manage to make those grotesque transformations both spine-chilling and oddly captivating? He is quickly become the reigning champion of horror aesthetics! The cast, including the exquisite Lily-Rose Depp and the talented Nicholas Hoult (who I've liked since 2022's "About a Boy"), deserve high praise as well for another exceptional performance. Depp's portrayal of the tragic Lucy is utterly compelling, and her performance is laced with both vulnerability and strength, perfectly complementing Skarsgård’s eerie presence (she does have those unfortunate cheekbones though, but we’re stuck with seeing them). Meanwhile, Hoult brings a level of poignancy that beautifully contrasts with the film's overall creepiness, enriching the narrative in a way that keeps you fully engaged. Visually, "Nosferatu" is a work of art! The cinematography shines with an old-school style, evoking classic horror while still feeling fresh and relevant. Every frame is meticulously crafted, with shadows dancing across the screen in a way that serves to heighten tension and keep you on edge. The color palette and the rich contrasts, the haunting shadows... it invites you into a dreamy nightmare, reminiscent of the silent film era yet resonant with powerful contemporary flair. The writing is sharp and enthralling, with dialogues that drip with tension and moments that build to a crescendo of dread. Not one scene feels wasted, and the pacing expertly maintains an atmospheric unease that lingers long after the credits roll. It is an exceptional film that impeccably combines atmospheric creepiness, outstanding performances, beautiful cinematography, and a solid script. It’s a modern masterpiece that adds a rich layer to the legacy of this timeless horror tale. So, grab your popcorn, dim the lights, and prepare for a chilling journey into the heart of darkness... because this cinematic experience is not to be missed!
