Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning Ratings & Reviews

- RipLinesManApril 20, 2025Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning and Event Horizon (1997) both push men to their limits in the face of forces that defy control — one through kinetic desperation, the other through metaphysical collapse. Ethan Hunt races to stop the world from tearing itself apart; Captain Miller simply tries to hold his together while drifting inside a ship that has already gone to hell. Hunt moves with purpose — guided by instinct, loyalty, and near-impossible odds. His body breaks, but his faith in people doesn’t. Miller, by contrast, begins with command and ends with surrender, watching his crew succumb not to failure, but to memory sharpened by madness. One is tested by betrayal and gravity; the other by guilt and gravity that bends reality. The Final Reckoning is about surviving the fallout. Event Horizon is about becoming it. In one, you run toward the danger to save the world. In the other, you realize the world has already ended — and you brought it with you.
- ColeMay 19, 2025Tom asked us to trust him one last time and you better. The first half demands your patience before it catapults you into the best sequences this franchise has to offer. I don’t think there’s a more tense and jaw-dropping moment than Ethan going into the submarine. Half an hour of silence, which is louder than any form of dialogue one can conjure — I was stress-eating my popcorn while leaning forward the whole time because I couldn’t believe this SOB had done it (again). That goes without mentioning the awe-inspiring plane sequence. It’s so unbelievable and a testament to this franchise’s (Tom’s) willingness to take the hardest and longest path to entertain us. In a time when we have “the entity” everywhere making us complacent and lazy, you can count on Ethan Hunt to remind humanity of what we’re capable of. Sure, his supposed final journey can be a bit over bloated and messy but when something like this is created with the purest intentions, that’s irrelevant. I sobbed, I smiled — I had a wonderful human experience.
- misael.97July 27, 2025probably the most impossible ending ever
- Ray HopkinJuly 23, 2025This is what action movies are all about! Cruise is once again in top form as Hunt, and some of the stunts and action scenes are absolutely jaw dropping. The submarine and biplane scenes are something else. Keeps you on the edge of your seat from the moment it starts right to the end. I loved this, as I did the other installments!
- JoelMay 18, 2025Too high of stakes, too many characters, too much exposition, too much nostalgia, and most notably not enough stunts. Takes an hour and a half for the movie to wake up and remember what this franchise is. All the fun from the previous movies is nowhere to be found here. There are 2 incredible action set pieces in this movie, but the drudge you have to sit through to get to them is tedious. I think Dead Reckoning set this movie up to fail, the story just got too big and bloated to handle. This is really going to test audiences with its slow pace and how self referential this film is.
- Megan CruzMay 31, 2025I really wanted to trust Ethan Hunt one last time but I just can’t get on board with this. In fairness, this is certainly one of the most impressive bloated vanity projects I’ve ever seen, but it’s still just too messy and absurd to justify itself. Still, the stunts are, as always, absolutely mind blowing. Tom Cruise has got to be certifiably insane but it’s kinda worth it for his contributions to cinematic history. I wish that this film didn’t feel like an snl skit parodying the MI franchise most of the time. I wish Gabriel was even a little more complex than a potato. I wish Ethan Hunt didn’t have a full blown transformation into the messiah. But even with all the many complaints I have about this film, the worst part is that this film drags and I was bored for much of the runtime. It’s not the farewell I would have liked from one of my most beloved franchises, but it has its moments. Thank you for your service Mr Hunt.
- falkerMay 24, 2025It sure tries to over explain a convoluted plot to the audience. The dialog can be wooden as hell. Some actors are like cardboard cutout versions of themselves. But my goodness, when it's fun, it's SO FUN. When it's suspenseful it's SO SUSPENSEFUL. Certainly not the best, maybe not top 3. I'd liken it more to "Live Free or Die Hard". Great when it needs to be, as good as you'd expect.
- nhillier81July 15, 2025Fantastic Finale
- russrev1ewsJuly 11, 2025A collection of truly awe-inspiring set pieces undercut by the glaring absence of a Thandiwe Newton cameo.
- Nishant AroraJune 5, 2025Watched first-day first-show in IMAX, blockbuster ending to the MI franchise.
- NaturalzJuly 10, 2025Mission impossible may not reach the series’ highest heights (Fallout still reigns supreme), but it’s a solid, crowd-pleasing dumb fun exit to the franchise. Expect thrills, a few surprises, and that familiar fuse of adrenaline and espionage. — 3.5 stars out of 5 —
- GrimeFiVideoJuly 1, 2025A few absolutely AMAZING action sequences padded with tons of boring and, at times, confusing exposition. Most of the movie feels so muddy and dragging, which is a shame, because the main action scenes are so thrilling and awe-inspiring.
- Kevin WardJune 30, 2025Wanted to rate this higher just because I know the work and artistry that goes into the stunt work to bring true spectacle to the screen. But this really didn’t work. Flashback montages, unwieldy exposition dumps, and an extremely bloated runtime made this feel almost like a chore to watch. Had been very much anticipating the plane sequence because of marketing of course but also because of audience buzz, but I was very much underwhelmed by it. I know the feat itself is impressive, but I just did not feel anything the way it was edited together. There’s large chunks where there’s no audio, only the M:I score, but you can see the characters mouthing things to each other and shaking their fists. Maybe it was supposed to be a throwback to the silent film era, but I thought it looked rather hokey from a dramatic perspective. Then the audio cuts back when Ethan breaks Gabriel’s arm and he lets out a odd sounding scream. There’s a great number of odd editing choices across the board. The montages, completely take you out of the movie and really just makes you feel like you’re watching a television series finale. Still, it has its moments. Pom Klementieff is great. Always love seeing Ving Rhames and he gets a great sendoff. If you asked me about a Trammell Tillman/Katy O’Brian submarine thriller, though—I definitely want to poke the bear.
- Justin HardinJune 27, 2025This wasn't my favorite am I? But I did enjoy myself as well as I bit all my nails off while watching it. I do love the franchise and I do honor Tom Cruise and everything that he does not only for this franchise but for the industry as well for movies. Overall, my review is above. And I do love how they really brought it to an end.
