Hellboy II: The Golden Army Ratings & Reviews
- ZokkiieMarch 24, 2026Seen it a bunch of times now and it still holds up. It’s just packed with creativity, like every scene has something cool going on. Guillermo del Toro really goes all in—everything feels handcrafted and full of personality, from the creatures to the sets. And Ron Perlman is still perfect, brings both the humor and that rough charm. The world-building is great too, it actually feels like there’s a whole hidden fantasy world just under the surface. It’s not the tightest movie, but honestly I don’t mind. It’s got so much style and heart that it’s just a really fun, unique watch every time.
- Billy ZaneJanuary 17, 2025Best of the Hellboy movies
- Foster LynchNovember 21, 2025Good movie. Very entertaining. Not a bunch of left-leaning crap! I highly endorse it
- RichardOctober 25, 2025Watched it, loved it and still annoyed we never got a proper part 3. Del Toro doubles down on the fantasy here, trading the gothic noir of the first film for a lush, mythic world full of trolls, tooth fairies and clockwork death machines. Ron Perlman returns as Hellboy, still grumpy, still charming and still punching monsters with style. Selma Blair’s Liz gets more emotional depth and Doug Jones as Abe Sapien is pure elegance in gills. The plot? Prince Nuada wants to awaken the Golden Army and wipe out humanity. The execution? Visually stunning, emotionally resonant and packed with creature designs that make you pause and rewind. The Troll Market alone is worth the price of admission, a visual buffet of monsters and myth that leaves Star Wars alien bar scenes in the dust. It’s fun, it’s weird and it’s full of heart. But it’s also the last ride. Despite fan love and critical praise, the trilogy never got its final chapter. So this one ends with a mix of triumph and frustration, a cinematic universe that deserved more, but still gave us something unforgettable.
- GnomeSliceMarch 22, 2025A fun fantasy film with inspired character designs and awesome set pieces. Del Toro knocked it out of the park!
- cubano11October 8, 2025A decent sequel, tainted by the fact that there is not a final installment due to the Hollywood machine.
- NinepintcoggieJuly 16, 2025somehow as good as the first. grungy urban fantasy is del toro's wheelhouse. this is the cinematic universe we should have gotten
- mickerdooJuly 5, 2025I bet the comic is good because you can tell how much time, thought and design went into this production. Easily enjoyed.
- Mister ArnMay 19, 2025This film is a comic book brought to life. The special effects bring the fantasy-filled story to life. I really enjoyed the tooth fairies buzzing around the room.
