- Jeff Webb5d agoIt’s just so far removed from the original even though it’s less than a decade from the original. Dick warlock is NOT my favorite Michael and the story was just… fine.
- DARTH VADER5d agoWhat made me give it a really good rating in the end, is out of all the Halloween sequels this is the one that feels most connected to the OG and literally starts off where the first one left off which is a huge positive. Also it has that very similar look, feel, tone and atmosphere that the OG had. Another thing I really liked about the film was, H2 really does feel like an extended version of the OG and when you watch 1 and 2 back to back they make for a really good double feature, like a nice 1 2 punch, and the final thing that I loved about this film when Michael was engulfed in flames and he's just walking until he no longer can, that for me is one of the best moments in the entire Halloween franchise. But what really holds this movie back for me is that they gave Michael a motive for why he's doing what he's doing by introducing the brother and sister angle, as Halloween fans know Michael Myers is at his best when he's motiveless that was the original intent of the character, also the editing is a bit choppy in certain spots that don't quite come together, the SAMHAIN stuff is nonsense, another thing I wasn't a fan of was Dick Warlocks portrayal of The Shape he was too robotic for me he's not a bad Myers but he's nowhere near the level that Nick Castle was that's just my opinion and also I know Laurie is comatosed a lot in the film but the fact she doesn't even for a moment grieve the deaths of Annie and Linda isn't realistic to me and one final thing the fact that she's relegated to the hospital bed throughout most of the runtime really does hold it back as well, but overall I'm a big fan of H2 1981 and it is one of the best Halloween sequels for sure, it just isn't anywhere near the levels of the OG that's all but to be fair that's one hell of a tall order. 🎃🔪
- Rob MacKinnon6d agoI hadn’t seen this since i saw it on a rented Betamax at a sleepover as a kid. It scared us all at the time. Now, not so much. Overall it’s pretty decent, but pales in comparison to the original. Donald Pleasance returning as bat-shit Dr. Loomis is welcomed, for sure. I was surprised by how little Jamie Lee Curtis is in this until the last act. She spends most of the movie in a hospital bed. And that hospital! Why is it so empty and so dark? What happened to the babies? When did nurses stop wearing those white uniforms and hats? I love that a kid is sandwiched by a cop car and burned to death and no one seems to care at all.
- LivewireAdminOctober 22, 2025Michael Myers trades the suburbs for a hospital and still manages to find people who walk directly into knives. letterboxd: FilmPhanPA
- Carlos IbarraApril 10, 2025It picks up directly where the original left off, but left the quality behind. It pales in comparison. Gone is the suspense, mystery and dread, in favor a high body count. Yes it satisfies on that base level, but I expect more out of this series...
- wipeout630October 4, 2025Not as good as the first one. You wouldn't miss anything if you skipped this one in a series watch.
- jborn4christAugust 19, 2025Good continuation of the original.
- ZokkiieAugust 15, 2025Turns up the gore and atmosphere but loses a bit of the first film’s tension. It’s stylish, has some great eerie moments, and the hospital setting works, but it’s not as tight or scary as the original. Still, a fun watch for slasher fans.
- cultfilmlikerMarch 31, 2025Had it on in the background while I played Balatro so I will wait for rewatch to give if a proper review. Enjoyed it! Might have sawn this before. Unsure!
- The Gutter MonkeyOctober 22, 2024Continuing about one minute after where the original left off, it feels more like an extension of it than a sequel to it. And that's great.
