After Dr. Samuel Loomis shoots Michael Myers six times, Michael escapes and is now on the loose in Haddonfield. Laurie Strode is taken to the hospital, and Dr. Loomis continues to hunt down Michael with the help of the police. Michael continues killing the citizens of Haddonfield and heads to the hospital to kill Laurie. It's now up to an injured Laurie and Dr. Loomis to stop Michael and his murderous rampage.
What made me give it a really good rating in the end, is out of all the Halloween sequels this is the one that feels most connected to the OG and literally starts off where the first one left off which is a huge positive. Also it has that very similar look, feel, tone and atmosphere that the OG had. Another thing I really liked about the film was, H2 really does feel like an extended version of the OG and when you watch 1 and 2 back to back they make for a really good double feature, like a nice 1 2 punch, and the final thing that I loved about this film when Michael was engulfed in flames and he's just walking until he no longer can, that for me is one of the best moments in the entire Halloween franchise. But what really holds this movie back for me is that they gave Michael a motive for why he's doing what he's doing by introducing the brother and sister angle, as Halloween fans know Michael Myers is at his best when he's motiveless that was the original intent of the character, also the editing is a bit choppy in certain spots that don't quite come together, the SAMHAIN stuff is nonsense, another thing I wasn't a fan of was Dick Warlocks portrayal of The Shape he was too robotic for me he's not a bad Myers but he's nowhere near the level that Nick Castle was that's just my opinion and also I know Laurie is comatosed a lot in the film but the fact she doesn't even for a moment grieve the deaths of Annie and Linda isn't realistic to me and one final thing the fact that she's relegated to the hospital bed throughout most of the runtime really does hold it back as well, but overall I'm a big fan of H2 1981 and it is one of the best Halloween sequels for sure, it just isn't anywhere near the levels of the OG that's all but to be fair that's one hell of a tall order. 🎃🔪
