It plays it safe, sure, but in doing so rekindles the eerie small-town terror fans craved. The mask took years to grow on me — proof that sometimes, “less is more.” Now, it stands as one of my unexpected favorites.

It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it’s got the classic slasher vibe, some solid creepy moments, and Danielle Harris is great as Jamie. Not the best in the series, not the worst—just a decent Halloween watch.
- Carlos IbarraApril 10, 2025Yes, the mask looks dumb as hell, and it's largely bloodless, but this is a fantastic sequel. It's right behind the original for me. By adding in the "legend of Michael Myers" element and having the lead in peril be an adorable child, this pumps the dread and horror back into this franchise. Then you add Loomis into the equation, as an Ahab-like character... it's just perfect. I love this one.
