- DommDynamiteMay 8, 2025I want to open this review with a positive but I've got nothing... It is a bad adaptation as well as a bad movie. The writing is the worst part. The jokes are 1 dimensional and trite. In fact, the entire move feels trite and predictable. The cinematography is bland and flat. The camera angles and shots do very little if anything to play into the emotion of a scene. I suppose that would be hard when no scene has any genuine emotion that wasn't shoe-horned into it. None of the characters feel like the ones they are portraying from the game. And nothing they changed was an improvment. That isn't tiny tina, she is nothing like tiny tina. She comes off as a cosplayer at best. I personally don't even think Tina should have been in a first installment of a borderlands movie franchise and it was an obvious attempt to cash in on a charater that is talked about heavily. I'll admit this is a bit nitpicky but, the fx were a let down too. The visual FX are cool _sometimes_ but so many of the sets looked like a bunch of art department, unpolished set pieces that could have been from a movie from the 60s. And I felt like the actors were looking at nothing too often. I honestly could criticize almost every aspect of this movie. One thing I will say is that I don't blame the actors for thier poor performances. I think they did the best they could with what they were given. As much as I enjoy Jack Black, I don't understand why the actual actor that plays claptrap couldn't have been in the movie. I think it should take a miracle for Eli Roth to be given a spot on any cast or crew after this big of a flop. Gearbox should have just made their own in-engine movie with their current voice actors. More people would have enjoyed that, I think.
- ScottDecember 14, 2024I don’t really know how this was supposed to work since the fun of the game is not the writing but the novelty of picking up a wacky gun to figure out what it will do. But whatever the way forward was Eli definitely didn’t find it.

- Amir AnimashaunApril 14, 2025People either can’t have their own opinions and be heavily influenced by others or may genuinely loathe this film but it’s not that bad. I’ve never played the BORDERLANDS games but I intend to because this world/universe intrigues me for some reason. The characters look great but claptrap was so annoying throughout this movie like the humour was so forced during the whole runtime but there were some funny moments. Lilith is a hear me out though. The CGI and VFX looks really good and then can be pretty noticeably ugly at some points but that ending was shocking and cool. Last thing I have to say is that nobody’s opinion matters but your own because you can’t make a judgement of what somebody else views of it just watch it yourself and make your own evaluation.
