- tnt.psdJuly 10, 2025I was excited to watch this film until I saw that it was 2 hrs 59 mins long. You expect me to sit down and watch nearly 3 hours of hot girl-on-girl action? I can’t do that. I know that’s crazy coming from me. But it’s 2 AM, and I have work in the morning. I ended up watching the movie anyway, because I love Léa Seydoux — the woman from The Beautiful Person and that game about delivering packages, loneliness, and the need for connection — and this powdered Celsius is killing me. This movie is trying too hard. How can a French film, made by French people — who are known to be the most 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂 people on the planet — fail this hard? This movie is about a girl learning about her sexuality, but also about how this woman is noncing a high schooler. I will say, Adèle is a great character; the highlight of the movie by far. I asked my uber-Christian mom if she wanted to watch a three-hour girl-on-girl film with me, and she said I was going to hell. Not because she’s Christian — she’s not one of the ones who hate gay people — she was upset that I asked her to watch a hot girl-on-girl movie with me. What Mom wouldn’t wanna watch, hot, sweaty, shallow, and pedantic girl on girl action with their son? I watched this while biking 20 miles on my stationary bike in my basement, wearing nothing but my underwear — as I do every night whenever I watch a movie. I’ve never thought about killing myself more than I have while watching this movie — not because of the quality of the movie, but because of the quality of my life. This will be the last movie I rate on Letterboxd, because I’ve realized you can’t actually rate a movie on a scale of one to ten, or one to five. You can’t really rate any form of art that way. (I’ve always known this, but I wanted to play the Letterboxd game… I’m done playing the game.) Yes, I sound pretentious. But I’d rather spend my time writing unhinged, mildly deranged reviews than pretending my feelings can be condensed into a number. Ce film est un peu gay, si tu veux mon avis.
