Based on the 9th circle of hell in Dante's Inferno, Black Garden begins on Christmas Eve in the near future. It's eight days after the end of World War III and a handful of survivors wait to die, except one. It's in black and white so it's an 'arthouse' film. There are schizophrenic and PTS themes running through the film. The music is quite good. Some of the subject matter, whilst not graphic is challenging psychologically to watch. Certain realities are ignored for the sake of telling the story. Kate has an unusual and personal relationship with a cassette recorder that she carries around unplugged.
