Barbie Ratings & Reviews
- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025It’s unapologetically feminist, down-with-the-patriarchy theme, was not what I was expecting, but ultimately one of the things I loved the most, second only to the production values for Barbieland. Barbieland is magnificently realized in every aspect. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are both pitch perfect. I was hoping for more from the supporting cast, but most aren’t given hardly anything to do. (How does Ritu Arya have no lines?) Kate McKinnon’s weird Barbie is great, America Ferrera and Arianna Greenblatt were standouts as well. My wife and I were just talking about Rhea Pearlman and how we hadn’t seen her in anything in a long time, so it was really nice to see her. It’s pretty funny throughout, but not all of the jokes 100% land. I felt the third act resolution to the Kendom situation somewhat underwhelming. But I found the ultimate ending for Margot and the last montage to be a perfect and emotionally moving note to end on. It’s a pretty weird movie even if I love the messaging. I’m not sure it’s one I would rewatch very often and doesn’t seem like one my kids would eagerly rewatch either, even though they enjoyed it as well. Learning about Sugar’s Daddy and Growing Up Skipper, though. — How the f🤩k we’re these real things? 🤦🏻♂️
- NewFilmsAnonymousJune 16, 2025Much like "American Psycho", feminist director Greta Gerwig failed to deliver chauvinist satire, instead creating a lasting culture of memelord Ken as the dude every guy wants to be, and every woman wants to be with.
- TanalienJanuary 9, 2025Studios would do well to take the right notes on why Barbie became 2023’s great cinematic phenomenon. This is not Mattel’s movie; it is writer-director Greta Gerwig’s expression through and through. Barbie is connecting with so many people because Gerwig has attached a well-known property to the best hallmarks of her style: honesty, sensitivity, and self-discovery. I am excited to see the next story she tells in the movie theater.
- Ty LeetMarch 21, 2025Ryan Gosling carried this movie on his back.
- charliesimon778May 13, 2025I thought this movie did a really good job with props on how Barbie land was set up. I enjoyed Margot Robbie’s performance in the movie. Including how she went from Barbie land to the real world and back. I thought the scenes with Ryan Gosling were amazing. Including when it went from Barbie land to Ken land and then from Ken land to Barbie land. I thought that Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling were both really great in this movie. Including the part towards the end when Barbie confronts Ken. What I loved about this movie was seeing Margot Robbie in it and I give her 11 out of 10 stars for making it a really great Barbie movie. Including how she was dressed like a princess in this movie. I thought she did an amazing job with producing it. I have felt bad for Margot Robbie as Barbie when she was upset and crying when Sasha was being a little mean to her. Including when she got upset that Ken switched Barbie land to Ken land. Overall I thought that Margot Robbie did an excellent job being Barbie and dressing up like a princess. Including how I liked seeing her being very happy as a princess in the movie. I really love the Barbie dream houses and how they are all in pink. Margot Robbie makes a really great Barbie character. I love how she dresses up every day as a princess. Including how Barbie has a lot of friends in Barbie land. I would really love it if there were Ken houses in Barbie land. I would love it if Barbie and Ken would both live together in Barbie land.

- RyezooFebruary 4, 2025Thought it was a ton of fun. Ryan Gosling stole every scene that he was in. I thought it was a little bit over hyped and a tad in your face with some of its messaging but in all still was a fun time at the movies.
- qmechanJanuary 24, 2025A toy story, she runs a course Through discovery, though it is forced She makes a recovery And lo! A discovery Patriarchy's more than a horse
- ColinHornFebruary 1, 2025Better than I expected!
- rg9400November 1, 2024This is probably the most famous movie of 2023, so I won’t spend too much time on my review. I think this is an effective approach at creating a more meaningful message-driven story from something that could have easily just been a toy commercial in someone else’s hands. The production design is gorgeous, and Ryan Gosling was super entertaining. Still, it is Greta Gerwig’s weakest movie to date, with some of the messaging feeling defanged and a bit toothless at times due to the studio constraints.
- ElliOctober 11, 2024A really bad movie, I can't believe how hyped this was. Pure feminism movie through and through. Hate it.
