- PapaHamzeh3d agoWhat a wonderful movie. Seldom is it that I find modern stories/settings so gripping. My only complaint is that I wish we would have had a redemption arc for a certain main character, but instead what we thought they would do was indeed what happened. But Igor is King, so it doesn't matter!
- VarunDecember 19, 2024Damn this movie was quite a ride. Reminded me so much of Uncut Gems (2019), coz the moment to moment drama is frenetic, anxiety inducing but also genuinely funny as hell. Every single actor did such a great job, a big section of the movie is so dependent on the ensemble’s interactions and mood changes throughout the ordeal which is nailed to perfection. I didn’t even recognise Mikey Madison from Scream (2022), her performance was truly transformative and captivating. The premise is simple but the series of events is really entertaining and well paced. The dialogue is also smart and in many scenes it brings a unique sentiment to it which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. This is a solid film that’ll have you hooked from beginning to end.

- LDcakes4d agoI watched Anora mainly because of Yura Borisov, who gave a great performance in the series Ancestral Land. That was my main reason for watching this one. But this movie turned out to be really funny, especially because I understood all three languages spoken in it. That made the humor even better. The dialogues were genuinely funny, and the way the actors delivered them added so much to the comedy. A lot of movies try to include different languages but either fake it or just throw in nonsense. But in Anora, they actually got it right, which made it even funnier. The way the characters spoke to each other—and to others—felt so real, and knowing that’s exactly how it is in real life made it even more hilarious. Overall, I really enjoyed Anora! It was fun, authentic, and definitely worth watching.

- rg9400December 20, 2024Anora is a tour de force acting showcase for her, instantly propelling yet another Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Manson Family actor to soaring heights. The movie starts out with a frenetic pace, a sex-infused blitz through a week in Ani's life with Mark Eidelstein's Ivan. This part of the movie is visually engaging, though I preferred the second half. Here, the story slows down significantly and allows Madison's acting to truly shine. It's also where the comedy starts to burst through, with many laugh-out-loud moments that rival most modern comedies. Throughout, you can see how desperately she tries to fight and claw, even physically, for a chance to hold onto her Cinderella dream and in her belief in her own self-worth. As a viewer, we know where everything is headed; the movie makes no attempts to hide how it views its characters, yet it is fascinating to watch how much each of the characters try to resist the inevitable. Mikey's fiery acting demands all your attention, but it is excellently supported by Yura Borisov's quiet acting, managing to say so much without any words. The movie's structure feels decidedly unconventional, starting with a spiral, slowing down, before it ends with a screeching halt in what feels like a very un-Hollywood ending. The end result might initially feel anticlimactic, but this character study will linger in your mind, no small part due to that striking final image. Mikey has earned her laurels.
- TonyHsiehMarch 9, 2025I think I must have watched a totally different non-Award winning movie with the same name like I used to accidentally get at Blockbusters like “Atlantic Rim”.
- Jasonmadcow5d agoReally funny and sad at the same time
- bobechi6d agoThat's why you shouldn't trust twinks
- LarissaMarch 15, 2025Mikey Madison's performance as Anora is the sole bright spot – she brings a depth and nuance to her character that's sadly lacking in the rest of the film. Her portrayal of a young woman caught between love and circumstance is compelling, but it's not enough to save the movie from its overall shortcomings. The story itself is clichéd and predictable, relying on tired tropes about wealthy elites and poor romantic interests. The characters surrounding Anora are one-dimensional and lack any real development, making it difficult to become invested in their stories. Perhaps the biggest disappointment is the film's failure to truly explore the themes it touches on – class disparity, love vs. luxury, and personal identity. Instead of delving deep into these complex issues, "Anora" merely scratches the surface, leaving viewers with more questions than answers. Overall, "Anora" is an average drama that fails to live up to its potential. Even Mikey Madison's standout performance isn't enough to redeem this film.
- McClane11March 7, 202510-15 years ago no one would have noticed this film. Is it the decline of cinema?
- Zoraiz Anwar6d agomostly just sex but beautiful ending and good cinematography and pacing
- davidm7237March 6, 2025Great movie. The Oscar was well deserved. Funny though that Demi Moore lost against a stripper film.
- falkerMarch 20, 2025Boy there's a lot of Russian, Boobs, and yelling in this movie. And the word "Fuck" in two different languages. I was worried my neighbors would be concerned with all the screaming so I turned it down, way down. I just moved in here and all my neighbors are old. I don't want them calling the cops on me, "Oh sorry it's just me here and Mikey Madison topless and tied in a phone cord, nothing weird".
